Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne on The 2013 Ontario Throne Speech

Hello, Bonjour, Ahnee, Bojoo. I’m Kathleen Wynne. As we get the legislature back to work, I have called upon my colleagues to join me in a renewed spirit of optimism and purpose. There is much we can accomplish if we all work together for you, the people of Ontario. Your new Ontario government will focus on building a strong economy and a fair society, because that’s what you need and that’s what you deserve. Fiscal responsibility will be our first priority, but we can’t build a brighter future through austerity alone. And so, your government will be driven by the quest for innovation, investment and growth. We will empower strong, involved communities. We will invest in transportation and transit infrastructure, so that every part of this province can move quickly and efficiently. We will continue to drive improvement in our health care and education systems, because educated, healthy and well-supported citizens are Ontario’s greatest asset. Your government is committed to creating opportunities for everyone — So that all hardworking men and women, young and old, can have a good job, a prosperous community, and an opportunity to participate and flourish. We can make sure that Ontario has a bold, 21st century economy, and we can do it without letting anyone slip through the cracks. I look forward to working closely with all parties in the legislature to achieve these important goals for all of you.
