Hey guys! It's Jana!
And welcome to Pinch of Luck!
Today we are going to make of Batman cake
Because Batman is AWESOME!
Today you will need a mixer, a mixing bowl, a spatula,
2 cake mixes, one chocolate and one yellow
For baking I have my loaf pan and some baking spray
And a Batman cookie cutter
For decorating we will need some white fondant,
Yellow fondant, black fondant
Some powdered sugar a little bit of icing
Some water with a decorators brush
I have a fondant smoother
And some tools to cut the fondant
I have some templates
I will put them on my website so you can print those out
And my fondant roller and a spatula
In case it stinks to my table
So Let's Get Lucky!
So we have to make our chocolate first
And you'll know why a little bit
Just follow the directions on the box
Or make your own recipe
Mix it all together!
Now let's just pour it in
You want to punce this a little bit to get air bubbles out
Because we are gonna do something
Super awesome with this cake
And we don't want no air bubbles in there
We're gonna throw this in the oven at 350
For about 25-35 minutes
Once your toothpick comes out clean you are good
And we will let it cool off quite a bit
Because we are going to do something
Very exciting with this cake!
Can't wait!
Got our chocolate cake all done and cooled off
So let me pop this baby out
And we are going to cut it in slices
Got my little cutting board here and
I have a Batman cookie cutter
I got this online I will put a link down below
It should work out just perfectly for our cake!
WHA, WHAA, WHAA!
Cut your cake into 1 inch slices
So now the exciting part
You take your cookie-cutter
Grab a slice of your cake
And push the cookie-cutter right in there
Squish it around a little bit
Get the excess cake off
And push you bat out
And you got
BATMAN!
And you just keep doing it
For all the little pieces you cut out
Now that we have all our Batmans cut out
We get to make our yellow cake
Once again follow the directions on the box
Or make your own recipe
Let's mix that up!
Even though this is yellow cake it is not yellow enough
We want it to be beautiful golden yellow
From the Batman logo of course
So do have a little bit of yellow food coloring
So we're gonna add this in
Just to make it that much more yellow
Alright that looks like a beautiful yellow to me
So once again I have my loaf pan
We are going to spray it with some Pam
And we are going to just put a little bit
Of the yellow in the pan
And then we will place our bats inside
And here we go let's put our bats in
Stack all your Batmans up and lay them in the pan
See they that all lined up in there!
Alright now we're gonna throw our batter on top
Now that we have our yellow batter on top of our bats
We can put this in the oven at 350
For another 25-35 minutes
And just keep checking it
Because obviously the center is already cooked
Cause those are our bats, so just checking it
And make sure you don't overcook
My cake is out of the oven is now cooling
So I figured let's go ahead and start
Making some of our decorations
So right now I want to take my black and my white
I am going to make a little bit of gray
So we can make our skyline
So I just tore off a little bit of the white
And I get a little bit of the black
So I'm just going to mix these together
Until they are totally combined into gray
Just knead it and knead it and knead it some more
(Batman song)
(Batman song)
Got my gray all mixed up
So let's put a little powdered sugar on our surface
And roll it out!
Got it all rolled out it looks awesome!
I have this fonadant tool set
But if you do not have one, that's okay
You can just use regular knife to cut your shapes
But I will put a link down below
So you can get one for yourself
See that guy? It's like a scalpel
I'm a doctor
Of cake!
I went ahead and cut out fondant pieces
That will fit my little templet
And put them on my little cutting board here
With some wax paper
I have my exacto knife and my fondant tool
Let's cut Gotham City out!
Awesome! We got Gotham City done!
Now we need our Batman logo
Yellow
This is the actual size
So obviously we will not be that much
So just grab a little bit
Massage it around a little bit, get it nice and soft
And roll it out
Little piece of wax paper
Let's go ahead and roll out a little bit for the black
Da na na na na na na na na na na na BATMAN!
WHOOSH!!!
So let's take our yellow oval
Place that on our yellow and just cut it out
After making Gotham City
This is gonna be a walk in the park
That looks great!
Now for the most important part...
THE BAT SYMBOL!
BATMAN!
Don't worry about the powdered sugar
We'll get that off in a little bit
Wow! This is gonna be so cool!
Now we need to roll out our black
This is gonna be covering the whole cake
So we need a nice big piece of this
Lay down some powdered sugar
So this is the rest of the box of black
I'm going to knead it and then roll it
Our cake is nice and cooled off now
So let's go ahead and get this baby out of here
And we can level it off and ice it
So my cake leveler does not go tall enough
So I'm doing it the good old fashioned way
Oh wow!
There was a bubble and it made a heart!
That is amazing!
I've never seen a cake do that!
I love you too Batman!
Let's just layer on a little thin layer of icing
So the fondant will stick
Ok now we just have to pray
That our fondant is big enough to cover the whole thing
Smooth it out!
Our fondant is all smoothed out
So now we get to put on all of our little decorations
Just gonna take our little bit of water
Just brush on our buildings
And stick it to our cake
Use some water to get the powder off
Wow, that looks awesome!
Sweet!
Keep taking your city and wrap it around
Alright so we ended up using 4 of the templates
Well almost 4 we had to cut that last one
So I actually made 5 just in case 1 broke or something
But we only needed 4
So now let's put our symbol on there
That's gonna look so awesome!
So once again you want to glue it with your water
Place that right in the middle
And get your bat place it right in the middle
And make any adjustments
That looks awesome!
I love it!
So the little shiny will go away as the fondant dries
Since we did use a lil bit of water to get the powder off
But it looks super cool!
I love it!
I love the little cityscape down at the bottom
His symbol came out awesome, that was super easy!
I think we got Lucky! (Ding)
Wont you're guests be so amazed
When they see the inside of this thing?
Let's check it out!
Oh yeah!
Now that is super cool, for a super cool, superhero!
