Aside from the *** charge, jurors also had the option of convicting Zimmerman with
manslaughter and even posed a question to the court hours before reaching a verdict,
asking for "clarification on the instructions regarding manslaughter?" But, ultimately,
they passed on that charge as well. (Via My Sanford Herald)
After the verdict was read, a stoic Zimmerman shook hands with his defense team and calmly
left the court room. (Via Orlando Sentinel)
ABC reports police had prepared for the public's reaction by creating places for people to
peacefully protest. Police in south Florida also urged people to remain calm while monitoring
social media for any potential problems.
This ends a more-than-month-long *** trial for the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
