Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay in getting this update
out to youse guys - In American "youse guys" means "Y'all". I was going to talk about how
production on the documentary was starting this next week. I was going to tell you about
our production blogs we'll be starting, and the new website and the continuing campaign.
Within days of finishing the Indiegogo campaign, I got a major shock in my personal life, which
even delayed this update.
Okay - first things first, a HUGE thank you to all of you who chipped in for the documentary,
shared it with your friends on twitfaceplus, dropped us an encouraging note, etc... Thank
you so much. The Indiegogo campaign has closed out and we had enough to get started on the
documentary. Because we had to set a goal and a close date on the Indiegogo campaign,
we have continued the campaign on the website noahflood.com - notice no "s" - it's noahflood.com
We did discover an issue regarding the title "The Mystery of Noah's Flood." Because there
has been soooo many movies and documentaries on Noah's flood, the ark, etc... it's really
hard to come up with an original, non-conflicting title! And we found out after the fact that
our title was quite similar to another documentary title out there, so we are awaiting to see
if those producers will release us to keep our title "The Mystery of Noah's Flood." There
may have to be a name change, we'll see, but that website will stay the same; Noahflood.com
We will continue the fundraising there as the Indiegogo campaign was a successful start,
and we will continue the fundraising right through till September 2nd. So again, you
can share that with all your friends on twitfaceplus.
Also on that webpage we will carry updates and...the production blog! So as we get out
getting footage, we are going to give you sneak peaks as to what we're up to as production
now starts.
Now - as some of you have heard already, I got the shock of my life this past week. For
the past year I had been applying for a lucrative railroading job for about a year now. I was
scheduled to start driving across Canada to shoot the host shots for the documentary next
week, and early this week I got a call with a job offer from CN! I couldn't turn it down
as I had fought so hard for this job. But even Stephen said "Take the job, let the cards
fall where they will, and we'll worry about the documentary down the road."
So I took the job and am being flown out to the training school tomorrow - Sunday. Now
what does this mean for the production: At this point, not a whole lot. While I had intended
to have all of MY shots done by mid-July, my reasons for that had nothing to do with
the documentary itself - that was my scheduled time off from producing Genesis Week, and
I had a couple of Bible camps I was scheduled to speak at. Stephen's end of the production
involves the actors, re-enactments, 3D animations, set construction, etc.. - all of that will
take MONTHS and wasn't even scheduled to start for another month. Joshua won't really be
able to start the musical score until we have things like the opening scenes at least rough
edited, and all of that is on Stephen's end, involving actors, sets, and 3D animations.
So it still would have been at least September or October before we even got to editing.
Our original schedule we figured it might be December, or even early in 2014 before
we were finished, but we were hoping to get it completed for the San Antonio Christian
Film Festival which is in February of 2014 - obviously to do that we have to have it
done before the Festival.
So the job I took on - freight conductor, the job itself is not a regular 9 to 5 job.
Like transports, trains are continually doing nothing but long-hauls, and so there's delays
with traffic, break downs, other trains getting priority, etc... and so you never have any
idea when a train will arrive at the station for a crew change. As a result, the crews
are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I will have no idea when I'm working, for
how long, or anything. I have also been given conflicting information thus far about scheduled
time off, and I probably won't have answers to those questions till I actually get on
the job. I'll be in training for seven weeks, then I'll be given like, ten days or something
to come home, pack up and move - because I'll be moving 6,000 kilometers to the other side
of the country. I'll have to find a place to live, etc..., and then show up at my assigned
station for work. So it'll be two and a half months before I even get settled in to try
and figure out when I might be able to do the shooting I need to do across Canada. Conveniently,
because I'll be in Alberta, three of the documentary location shoots are within a day's drive of
where I'll be stationed. So if I get two days off in a row, I can get one or two of those
location shots done for example. We have a mid-term break in the middle of the school
during which I'll be getting the on location shots at Niagara Falls that we need. So while
this major life change affects the timing of MY end of the production, we are still
very much going to produce this documentary, and it's quite possible that this won't even
delay the final production.
So that's the scoop. Again, thanks so much for your support, please pray for us and for
the production which will now basically commence. Check back to either my YouTube channel, or
noahflood.com to catch our production blog and thanks so much for those of you who have
shared it with everyone, we really appreciate it.
God bless!
