Hi, I'm Melina and welcome to Expert Village. Today, I'm going to show you how to make a
screen print design on a t-shirt. In this next step, we're going to draw a design for
our screen print. Now you want to make sure that when your drawing a design to be screen
printed you don't want to have too many tiny little lines. You don't want to have a lot
of things that are going to be very hard for the paint to get through. You don't to make
anything with too much detail. I'm going to draw just a very simple whale design. Keep
in mind that this is going to go on your shirt. As your drawing it you can look at your shirt
and think how it is going to look. Is it going to be too wide? Is it going to be too small?
This is the time where you really want to plan out how it's going to look. It looks
like this is a pretty good size for my shirt. What you have to think about when you?re doing
a drawing for screen printing, is that every line that we cut out is where paint is going
to show. You?re going to cut all this out, all this thick area. So when you?re planning
it out, you want to make sure that the design looks good using semi-thick lines. Now you
don't have to make very thick lines. You can make thin lines. It's just a little bit more
challenging. We're now going to trace this onto our paper, our wax paper. You want to
make sure that it's going to show through.
