Reiji: Just like always...
As lunchtime arrives, I murmur this to no one in particular in the peaceful classroom.
Everything about this is just another normal day. Nothing has changed.
Reiji: ...
I unconsciously move my eyes over to the seat where Kirisaki sat in.
Although everyone sees that it's vacant, but there are no questions as to WHY it's empty.
All they feel is some strange sense of incompatability, but yesterday's shocking events are a painful reminder to me
that what happened was not a dream.
Reiji: No one remembers even a single thing about him after all...
The price that one pays for that kind of power...there can't be anything more cruel than this.
Even the memories one makes with people important to them disappear...There's no proof at all that he existed.
For humans, this has to be a fate worse than death...How can I accept that?
Reiji: Just thinking about that possibility is painful...
Yes. To think that even Miki would completely forget about me...I don't think I could take it.
Even if I'm not as important to Miki now...it hurts to think she would lose all memories of me.
I can't pretend to hide those feelings.
Ryuichi: What's wrong, Reiji? It's unusual for you to be staring up at the sky all sentimenal.
Reiji: ...Shut up. I'm hungry, I'm just thinking about what to have for lunch.
When some guy interrupts my thoughts, and on top of it all THAT guy, I get a little annoyed.
Ryuichi: Well, that's good than. I was thinking about heading to the cafeteria to eat too. You want to eat together?
Reiji: Why the hell do I have to eat with you?
Ryuichi: Well, um...because we have an inseperable relationship as bad friends...no, because you're my best friend!
Reiji: ...
An uncomfortable smile forms on my face, because I'm not used to Ryuichi acting so friendly, and my skin begins to crawl.
It's obvious to me and to anyone that knows him that he's got an ulterior motive for this.
Reiji: ...I see, that's how it is.
When I look around the classroom, I see a lot of girls from both this class and the next hovering around the door, holding
lunches, and all of their eyes are focused in this direction like hunters after the same prize.
Reiji: I see you're as popular as ever.
Ryuichi: Don't kid around. You know I'm not good at talking to girls, so don't make fun of me because of it.
Reiji: ...
For some reason, this idiot's always been popular with the girls, like some moron out of a love comedy anime.
So, I can't help but make fun of Ryuichi because of it.
Reiji: As always, I'm amazed at how ridiculously clumsy you are.
Ryuichi: Mu. Anyway, I can't act normally around women like you, Reiji. Even though I know you're joking, I just can't do it.
Reiji: ...Haa...
I give up, realizing that it'll be impossible to make Ryuichi to think otherwise, and I stand up from my seat with a large sigh.
Ryuichi: Alright. Let's go than, Reiji.
Reiji: ***. I'm not eating lunch with you.
Ryuichi: Na...
Reiji: For someone whom the other guys are always jealous of, I'm leaving you to the sharks.
Ryuichi: Hey, I helped you with Satomura the other day!
Reiji: This has nothing to do with that. See ya.
Ryuichi: W-Wait, Reiji! At least let me go with you... Uwa?!
As soon as I leave, Ryuichi is surrounded by several girls.
I look back at Ryuichi with an evil smile, than leave the room while waving my hand back at him.
