Having been on the radio and having interns and watching their growth as interns. Yea
when they first get there we torture them. Yea you know. They have to go through some
hazing routines. I remember Funk Master Flex, when I was in the same area as Hot 97, he
actually had them, and our studios were set up so that I was in a room with Hot 97, Kiss
FM, and QCD, when I was on the radio. There was a large hallway and each one of the studios
windows opened to the hallway. He actually had the interns running around and the ones
that ended up not dropping out were the ones that got the internship with Funk Master Flex,
which is highly desirable. So after they did the hazing, they learned more with him, and
I never made them run around the hallways. But my interns, I think they learned so much
on the job. There is nothing like being in the real world with someone who does it for
a living and has done it for a long time to how you how to take all these tools, all these
tools they have at Hofstra and they have got them all. How to put them together and use
them in a real job situation. So I find internships, yeah there is a fun or funny part to them,
but they are real serious jobs and I think a lot of students get jobs out of internships.
