>> There are 10 full time members of the staff teaching
and researching all aspects of Scandinavian language, culture
and history from the Viking age to the present day.
Staff research interests include Scandinavian film and comprise
of literature, modern Nordic history and gender studies.
The department caters to students from the world.
There over 100 full time, part time
and affiliate undergraduate students.
There is also a thriving post graduate's culture
with over a dozen graduates per year.

She is entering the Scandinavian Studies Department.

>> There are 5 B.A. programs
in the department Scandinavian studies, Icelandic,
Viking studies, Scandinavian studies and history
and Scandinavian studies and management.
The primary purpose of each program is to become fluent
in a language: Danish, Swedish, Norwegian,
Icelandic and Old Norse.
Language courses are combined
with culture and history classes.
The 3rd year of study is spent abroad
at the Scandinavian University.
Graduate programs include M.A. in language, culture
and history, medieval and west Norse,
M.A. in translation studies and MPhil/PhD
in Scandinavian studies.

The focus of these events is varied.
Some are organised by the students
and some by the faculty.
This is a recent event organised by students entitled
"The Ultimate Viking."
This is our recent lecture
on the Nobel Experience by Horace Engdahl.
Other recent lecture topics include Karen Blixen
on colonialism, working in the Dreyer Archive
and Suicidal Writing of Herman ***.

in the Scandinavian Studies Department at UCL.
But the Scandinavian studies student is finished for the day.
