Idina: So I'll just sing one more song,
But before I do I just wanna thank Phillip.
Where did he go?
Phillip: Right here.
Idina: Oh.
I wanted to thank you
for bringing me down.
But for everything that you're doing.
You're a complete inspiration to me.
And, um...
Let me know what you need,
and we can build some more... stuff.
Phillip: Come back.
Idina: And, uh...
Thank you.
I want to thank everyone that performed.
Cause I know how vulnerable that must be,
To have someone sitting in front of you like that
On the side of the stage.
I don't know if I could do that.
Um...so thank you.
It was just amazing...
(Idina to Ron Clark students)
And wasn't it amazing meeting the Obamas?
Did you meet Michelle Obama?
She's so nice, isn't she?
RC kids (in unison): Yes ma'am.
*Idina and audience laugh*
Do you realize what an incredible experience that was?
You'll remember that your whole lives right?
RC kids (in unison): Yes ma'am.
*Idina and audience laugh*
Idina: Um...
And I'm not gonna remember both girls names.
Phillip: Sarah and Tracy.
Idina: Tracy. Sarah and Tracy.
I just wanted to say thank you.
Just...beautiful.
Where's um...(looks for Tracy)
Oh. Thank you so much. Just gorgeous, really.
Um...but meanwhile... so keep up the...what?
Phillip: I just wanted to say thank you. Um...
It's really, really rare that...
Well, I don't know if it's rare, but...um...
That downtime was...
She and I spent a lot of time together.
And it's interesting to meet someone,
And to see so far ahead
And to still be in the moment.
Saying, "Don't worry, don't worry!"
I was as happy for you
As I could have been for anyone,
Because you deserved it.
And I saw you during that down time.
So it's always wonderful to go some place
And all of a sudden a movie comes on,
And your friend is there.
You know how hard they worked it.
I always tell kids,
"The best thing about being in New York,
And following your dream, is that...
You get to dream with other people."
You walk that walk together.
And there were lots of Ben and Jerrys.
There were lots of...
Idina: He bought me...
He adopted my two kittens for me.
As a birthday present.
Coltrane and Ella.
*audience awwwws*
Phillip: I was like, "What does she want?"
I called her husband, who I was friends with.
And I was like, "What does she want for her birthday?"
He said, "Uh...get her some kittens."
*Audience laughs*
Idina: You know why he did that?
Because then we broke up a little while there.
Before we got married we took some time off.
So I guess he wanted to get me some company...
Before he...pshhhh.
*Audience laughs*
Phillip: But, um...
It's always, um...
Tough, to kind of, um...
Be in a new place,
And your friends are some place else.
But I always,
no matter how much distance,
or how much time goes by,
I always feel connected to you.
Because I was there.
You inspired me.
Even when you didn't know the little green lady
Was coming around the corner.
*Idina laughs*
Phillip: She was trying to tap dance,
And she's a terrible dancer.
She was trying to tap dance for "Thoroughly Modern Millie".
We were like...euhhhh.
*Idina laughs*
Phillip: But, for you to take the time
To do this...uh...for these kids,
It means a lot to me.
Idina: It was my pleasure.
I just feel lucky for all of you that get to, um...
Meet him, and know him. And...
I hope you keep supporting his work, and...
Um...
I just, I just admire everyone's commitment
To this whole project.
I just think it's so important. Obviously...
You know...
Knowing I'm going to be bringing...
A new one into the world,
I'd like it to be a diverse, multi-cultural world.
Where kids can express themselves and...
And have a real compassion
And empathy for each other's, uh...experience.
And so...kudos.
*Audience claps*
