I want to show you how to do the Faux Pearl Technique that I used on this
triptych card that I made with the Elements of Style Stamp Set. So I've
prepared another image piece and colored it in. And then I'm going to take
a wadded up piece of plastic wrap
and I've got a little bit of
White
Shimmer Paint in here, and I'm just going to kind of splotch it.
And you really don't want to cover the whole thing; you want some
places showing.
And
then I'm going to just set it aside
to dry for a while.
So this is dried now. I waited until it was no longer tacky. Next thing I'm going
to do is some sponging. So first I'm going to do
some sponging with Sahara Sand.
And this is just going to help show up the
Faux Pearl finish that we've put on here. And the Sahara Sand is quite light,
so you're not going to get
a lot of definition just with it.
So then I'm going to start sponging with a little bit of Crumb Cake.
And that's quite a bit darker,
and you see what's happening is the
Card Stock is
absorbing the color,
but the Shimmer Paint
resists it.
So you get kind of a nice
patina
to your
piece.
And I'm going to stop for a second and just wipe off
the excess
ink from
the Shimmer Paint
splotches,
and take a look and see if I want
just a little more color?
I think I'll add some,
especially around the edges
to make it look
old.
And there you go.
I hope you've enjoyed learning about this Faux Pearl Technique,
and that now you'll go try it yourself.
