Female Speaker: I loved it. Matt Lanter: Thank you.
Female Speaker: I was like "Why is it over?"
Matt Lanter: Thank you so much, that means a lot, it's great, that's good.
We got a lot of reaction in the room. It was a packed room.
There were 5000 people in there and there was a lot of buzz.
They were going crazy for some part so I think if people give it a chance
and they're going to actually watch that I think it can have a great impact.
Female Speaker: And you guys are paired up with Beauty and the Beast, right?
Matt Lanter: Yes, we're mid-season but we'll see, yes.
Female Speaker: So for people who don't know the show or haven't seen it yet can
you talk a little bit about the show in general and your character?
Matt Lanter: Yes, Star-Crossed, I mean I keep saying essentially it's a cross
between kind of a District 9 sci-fi alien thing mixed with Romeo & Juliet aspect to it.
It's kind of a perfect mix of that we have two societies that are trying to
figure out how to co-exist together.
This show is about a government pilot program to get these aliens called Atrians
integrated into society.
Along with that we kind of see this epic love kind of bloom.
Emery when she was young kind of saved Roman and they seem to kind of be destined
for each other but along with that destiny it's kind of a forbidden love, it's Romeo
and Juliet - two separate families, two separate worlds, two separate things
and that's what this is so we're going to see that clash.
So we've got just a lot of human social issues that are going to play out in the
series that have taken place in our own society and we're going to see that play
out in the show too. So there's just a lot of major human
stuff that's going to happen in the series and I'm excited to see where it goes.
Female Speaker: If you could describe your character in one word what would it be?
Matt Lanter: In one word - that's really difficult - because he's pretty complex.
It sounds like a thought about answer but no one's given me that in one word.
But I don't know, I'm going to say hope.
I'm going to say hope because in some ways Roman is the possible bridge between
the two societies.
He has a chance to bring these two worlds together so we'll see where it goes.
Female Speaker: And just one last question - is there a moment that stood
out for you shooting the pilot?
Matt Lanter: A moment that stood out - well so there was a moment in the pilot
where we were - Aimee and I were out there and kind of connecting for the first time
since I guess we were younger and it was almost a kiss happening but I'm saying
that moment because it was like 6:30 in the morning and the sun was coming up
and the birds were chirping and the trains were going off and we're trying to have
this like ultra romantic like destiny moment happening and there was like birds
and trains and it was - it's not all what you see, I'll tell you that.
It came out great.
