Former Presidents Bush & Clinton on Haiti

before president bush and form president clinton we're together uh... all of the new show they were scissors shows they were seated at the white house and taking interviews from all the new shows because they are putting together the clinton bush haiti fund uh... dot org and their you know i have big plans for what they're going to do that money president clinton has been uh... really involved in haiti for a very long long time and now he's the special envoy united nations there so for him it's an appropriate mission but i you know it's a mission about coming together of people who you know i uh... you know how i feel about uh... george w_ bush uh... but i couldn't help yesterday but kind of root for him when the for the first time effort when i saw him sitting next to the oakland talking about what was going on here well i'll tell you he's if he can raise money for people who need it i'm all for yeah uh... and you know he certainly can he's raised the money for you know people who don't need of so uh... any ship but but at what i think every bradshaw wide after he did a fat pig gak events he appeared at the inspirational salesmanship and having a he's not a bigger derogatory bradshaw so if we can get clinton bush and cary grant's right well i think he's a lot of things george w_ bush an inspirational speaker in fact i would bet that he would not even call self uh... but instr without there being cynical it was pretty impressive and and let's not let's listen to a little bit of what uh... the former presidents and um... the former president's i had to say are this is uh... george w_ bush uh... d ef forty a third president it states uh... this is quote number three jr president bush what did you learn in your government response to the tsunami the disaster response to katrina what lessons did you learn that this administration should bear in mind uh... first of all it takes time to get the supplies in place it should determine the recidivism expectation unless people that things can happen quickly and and sometimes it's hard to make things happen quickly secondly there is a great reservoir of goodwill that uh... wants to help in that that's why he asked us to help and for quite a bit anne to put a patient for the clinton bush haiti fund dot org one of my concerns are our any any crisis is that shyness to show up and take advantage of people's goodwill and generosity and so therefore people want to help want one avenue precisely established ngos would be to would be good cap on that website and with will help make sure your money is spent in a transparent accountable way in some circles that has been criticized for politicizing this disaster do you think that's fair i don't know what what they're talking about a at that but i've been briefed by the president about the response in as i said about the comment at appreciate presence quick response to this disaster you know if i can just for a second take back a little bit of my cat emails about president bush among of moment ago i will say this that he is showing a kind of political courage that op bill clinton and some of the other responders don't have to have because he's the only one stepping up to the plate and raising money for haiti who has to contend with people in his own movement who oppose that idea you know seen person as an independent or a democrat would oppose raising uh... funds for this to these people who needed so desperately but president bush is actually showing some political courage by resisting those conservative voices that say we shouldn't give america yeah and i you know i think uh... but we all know that uh... that uh... george w_ bush is a man of faith and i think that this is one of those times were deeply calls and and demand response uh... yeah i i don't i think that fits in impossible argue that we could sit here and do shows as we did for eight years about uh... about what we don't like about george w_ bush but the fact is that you know he's come together he's uh... he has italian new also i think that he and he had to have known that in in stepping up to an endeavor such as this that uh... he would have to answer a lot of questions about katrina and um... they shouldn't be about katrina we all know what happened with the trainers should be about learning what what shouldn't be done the next time and not sort of please if you know i'm not saying that because a bush you blew it unka trina why should you be in charge of haiti he's not in charge of rebuilding haiti is in charge of raising money to help rebuild baby intel pics e_t_ and perhaps somebody who is you know has some influence within his on political constituency is pretty great analyst in the people listen to the show who never wanted hearing good thing about george w_ bush uh... and he hears still sits listening here but at this is a pretty impressive uh... put endeavor that that's gone on
