Most all middleweight bicycles came with fenders. Bikes today don't come with fenders. Fenders
are great! You ride through a puddle, even if you're not riding in the rain, you just
go through a puddle and the fenders are going to keep the water on the ground, and off of
you. The fenders on a middleweight are narrower than they were on a balloon tire bike. Depending
on the era within the middleweight age, the fender tips may be more pointed or less pointed.
The fender braces here, you can tell they were a stamped steel, but they were pushed
out to give some strength to them, and these are cadmium plated, that's very common for
a fender brace like this. And, the fronts attach directly to the axle. Again, this is
incorrect, the order of these things, but that's o.k, we'll fix that later. If we look
at the rear fender, again it's narrower than a balloon, it's chrome. Middleweights had
either chrome or painted fenders. If it had painted fenders, you might get lucky and have
a nice pin stripe. But, this is a chrome fender, and if you'll look at how it attaches here,
instead of attaching to the axle, it actually attaches to a different part of the rear drop
out. That's also where the rear rack attaches and we'll talk about that in a moment. But,
these have general cad braces and they're more narrow.
