Now we're going to step to one of my favorite parts; dribbling. Dribbling is an essential
part of basketball. It controls the game and controls the flow. Me being a pointguard I
was quite the consummate dribbler. Now a couple of keys things to remember about dribbling
is always keep your eyes up, never down. You have to be able to survey the court at all
times. Therefore you have to be adept to using both hands, left and right. Now a couple of
drills we're going to do involve dribbling with the right hand all the way down to the
base line and back. Then I want you to change hands, dribbling with the left hand all the
way down and back. You can also use the behind the back, through the legs, a couple of other
tricks we'll go over later. But I want you to first basically focus on the essentials
of keeping your eyes forward, dribbling with your ball in the right hand then coming back
with the ball in your left hand. Another effective way of dribbling is using your back as a defense.
Put your body between your man and the ball that way you have a buffer zone going, again
allowing you to see the court, down vision, knowing if you want to pass, shoot or maybe
dribble.
