It may be raing outside today but there is a lot of excitement here at Bridges's new location at 935 Edgehill Avenue here in Nashville.
We have a brand-new renovated building that we think is great and will help us improve our services to those who are Deaf, hard of hearing and Deaf-blind hearing or anyone who needs our services.
I want to give you a very brief tour of the new building and show you some of the rooms that may be of interest to you. Then we want to see you back here on July 15th which is a Monday, from 4pm to 7pm.
We are having our Open House. You can come in take a tour of the building, have some light snacks and just enjoy our new space. So let's start the tour now.
As you first come through you will enter the TV/Social room which we just came out of. We will have sports on the television, news, several different shows that you can watch and relax. If you are an interpreter it's a great place to come between jobs.
If you are a member of the Deaf, hard of hearing, Deaf-blind, or hearing communities, come and spend some time with us and relax.
We are going to go into the classroom first. As you can see there is plenty of space for workshops, American Sign Language classes, this space can be used for anything that requires education or presentation.
It's a really great space that will be used a lot. We will now go back out and see the new computer lab.
As you walk down, and if you go into this room here you will see we have some computers for the Deaf and hard of hearing to use. You can use them to look for jobs, or just come in and use our internet services during your breaks or anything like that.
If you go into here, this is our Interpreting Services. This is where all of our interpreter scheduling, our staff interpreter's offices will be located. So if you need anything related to interpreting services, this is where you need to come.
One of the spaces that we are really, really excited about, and something that our communities have been clamoring for is a new multi-purpose room.
So we are now going to walk there and you will see it can be used for lots of different events, club meetings, really anything. The tables and chairs can be moved around to accomodate your needs.
So you can see we have plenty of space here. We also have a video phone. We have a kitchen right next door. So if you are planning on bringing any food, we have a place to store it.
This is one room that we are really excited about . We look forward to seeing those who will be served by being able to use it.
As we keep going, our next stop will be our Youth Center. After you see the Videophone room which is located right here. We have videophones for anyone to come in and use to make phone calls. So we will now walk this way.
Becuase I am more affiliated with the Intrerpreting Program, I am going to let someone who has more experience, more expertise to lead you through the Youth Center. You may remember her, she is back after a brief break with us... it is Donice' Kaufman.
So I am going to turn it over to Donice' now and she will guide you through the rest of the Youth Center.
Hi, I am Donice'. This is my sign name. I would love for you to see the Youth Center.
We have games and tables for studying, books, a lot of chairs, sofas, and other things. It's just awesome! A new T.V. We have classrooms.
That was our computer room. Nice, Huh? Follow me. I will show you our books, tables, and chairs.
Welcome to our offices. All of our staff and volunteers work in here.
And then, there's my office. It's a little bit messy.
Did you see the playground?
Awesome! Thank you for visiting me. I hope to see you soon. Bye.
Thanks Donice'. Come on, we have one more room left to go.
This is the administration area. It's just basically a really nice space for several offices that we have here. As you can see, we have some staff here working.
Hi! Welcome. We are happy you're here.
Alright, that is pretty much it. Again, our Open House celebration is July 15th from 4pm to 7pm, and we want to see a lot more of you here that night. Thank you for visiting us and we'll see you again real soon. Bye.
