agreement on how the body of water between the two countries should be

briefing wednesday that washington will continue to use the name sea of
japan to refer to the body of water... in line with the u.s. board on
geographic names. she rejected the idea of using both east sea
and sea of japan saying it
is a longstanding u.s. policy to use only one name for the sake of clarity.
korea considers the name sea of japan a legacy of japan's imperial past
as it came into use during japan's colonial rule of korea in the early 20th
century.
