This fine and impressive, large antique George III English sterling silver swing handled
cake basket is quite an exceptional example.
It has an oval rounded form.
The everted body has fine and impressive pierced and chased decoration.
The navette shaped rim is ornamented with fine and impressive applied decoration.
The piece retains the original hallmarked swing handle embellished with interlacing
pierced decoration.
The two S curve supports of the shaped handle are embellished with fine and impressive figural
ornamentation.
All the decoration to the basket is very crisp and sharp.
Full hallmarks are struck to the surface of the piercing, part hallmarks to the handle
as to be expected.
At a weight of 42 troy ounces the piece is an excellent gauge of silver
