How to Use Sketchup's Dynamic Components

Hey Design Nation in this session you're going to learn how to use dynamic components in sketchup hey so we're gonna learn about how to use sketch's dynamic components so to be clear we're not going to learn how to make them, we're just going to learn how to find some and how to operate the ones that do you find. So I just want to make that very clear and actually this is SketchUp the free version. So you actually can't make SketchUp components in the free version you can only use them so at this going to illustrate my point pretty well I'm so if you click on susan when you open up oven our version A Sketch up this is actually the the 2012 version so if you click on susan you know she's heard you typically think that she serve a dumb component rate you can copy here and you can change long version her and had to the to the other great it'll change that to typically that cell components are used but our people don't know that as susan is actually a dynamic component so if you go to um toolbars view toolbars in you scroll down you'll see that there's a the then ima components options that you click that nope up this little window and this window has a finger which is the interact with genetic components I miss a drop down list which is *** options and this great outbox is component attributes and says pro only because this is what you would use if you're going to make your own den ima components but since we're just going to operate are dynamic components which can use his first two anyway some gonna go ahead and Doc this over to the side am going to open this component options see you can see I don't have anything selected and this is no good component selected select one or more components to peer options so I'm gonna slip Susan an axe brings up this dialogue my basically says his members ketchup development team blah blah blah and you can change the color Hirscher so you can change it to read or turkey slices new consider any these colors this they've program this in you can actually changes to any color you one if you're a program in them it could be a random color it could be soon anything you they could be material to we make if I clicked this interact with many components he actually change for sure just by creaking to and I'll cycle through the colors so I'm actually gonna show you I'm some more dynamic components mentally Susan to get a window components and a pop up your component components window and you can see any arm any thumbnail that has this little logo in the corner is a dynamic component so if you open up few import wannabes its gonna have pram inner sky have something in the net so this is saying he's a skillful to resize went to the bench so doesn't have anything specifically in the common options but it is still a dynamic so basically it depending on who ever made it how they made you their name a component they're gonna be different options available so maybe you won't be able to use the component option that they believe you would use the correct or or maybe I'm like this is saying if you hit s and there's a *** at their skills will notice that there are only two groups on this and if you drag eg it'll like than the bench so this is you know sort of all all this one does is you can lighten the bench and edges spaces out he only so you can change size fit dozen it looks like it's gonna make everything fat but it will resize I'm everything to be with you would want it to look like so I mentally torsten who taxing went into the click to the in a show you that the this wall so the freeman do and it makes things a little bit quicker then it would be to model everything on your own and one other thing that I wanna show before and this video is cars so the best thing I've I have in have my own cars that I use I don't use this car but really it denim components if you're using a lot the same component anyone urges change one or two things tech components are fantastic am so for cars in renderings things like that don't have a ton of different cars because cars inherently are pretty heavy models so you enter minimize the different components of cars that you have and if you want to change the color up the same car to just give a little better variety it's tough to do without increasing your file size: anyway so what I've actually learned is that through using denim components you can change you can use one car and change the color of it to give a lot a different variety by shifting the direction up the car whether it's facing forward or backwards if you're doing a parking lot and some cars pulled in and some cars backed in and variety of color changes you can get a really dynamic feel without having a ton of different models so I'm this is kinda like a fancy little car that they made the doors open its its kinda cute and action when you click on I think the tires rotated yep to think on this this is probably way to answer the need and missed is just so to showcasing white ad and coupons can do so this pops up these little spheres on and you can click on them no change the car to that color and the spheres to spear so it's kinda nice interactive option I'm its kinda finicky so you'll notice when I copy this car over and the first time that I click it in a pop up these as fears over here so she's kinda finicky that way so I'd say the more that you can keep your components simple on the better but research shows you what you can do and this is the same component and disordered changing one parameter and sitting on your file size: if you have a question
