Hi, my name is Athena Reich and I'm a singer, songwriter and music host here in New York
City. In this clip I'm going to talk about how to take car of your piano, how to really
maintain it's quality. Well, there's several things you can do, first of all and most importantly
you're going to need to get it tuned once or twice a year. So you need to find a tuner
that you trust. It can go by recommendation, usually referral is the best. Call a music
school, they can probably refer you to, refer a tuner, a professional tuner and have them
maintain the piano and they can also give you advice. If you let a piano go untuned
for a long time it can get damaged beyond repair. Another thing is you don't want dust
to get in the keys of the piano, so keeping the lid on or dusting it regularly it can
really help. Another thing, don't *** on it very loud it can wear on the hammers and
the strings in the piano. Don't let kids *** on it, you can say you can play the piano
as long as you play it gently. Also I never let party guests put glasses of water on the
piano because you do not want that water falling into the keys. So basically tuning, dusting,
banging, regular maintenance will help you take care of your piano. This has been Athena
