My name is Joe La Fave I'm a senior nursing student I'm majoring in the bachelor of science
in nursing and I'm about to graduate. I was in the U.S. Marine Corps. I enlisted in February
2007, we deployed to Ramadi Iraq. Our mission was very humanitarian and we made it very
clear to to people that we were working with that we were here for them and we're here
to help them rebuild to help them get back on their feet. I think the people we worked
with appreciated the work we did, we were good friends. For me, my particular passion
is in critical care type of environment, whether that's in ICU or emergency room. And I think
that component from the military training translates great here. Your peers are watching
and evaluating how you're performing and then this really lends to the learning experience
because after the face you have a post conference where we sit down and we review the scenario
and we kind of highlight each other's mistakes which complements this program beautifully.
The experience of making those hard decisions quickly, thinking on your feet and working
with a team really come to play in a positive light here in the nursing field.
