Hi, I'm Benoît Treluyer, Audi driver, winner of the Le Mans 24 Hours for the last two years. Welcome to my home.
My first win is definitely my best memory as a driver...
I've got other good memories from my career, such as my Formula Nippon title, but Le Mans is by far the best.
One of the unusual features of Le Mans is the differences between cars and drivers.
Drivers of the same car always work together, and it's important to avoid competing with one another.
Driving the same car, and being under pressure to achieve a clearly defined objective together, creates friendships.
You're racing together and living together for a large part of the year, so you'd better get on with one anothe
And that's how we fairly quickly became Audi's top drivers.
Audi has always developed technology for racing and then used it on production cars.
Everyone has their own way of dealing with pressure on the track.
I started competing at the age of six, and I've never stopped…
so I've honestly learned to deal with it. It's always there, and you have to channel it and release it when necessary.
For me, Le Mans will always be THE most important race. It's 24 hours long and difficult to manage—you have to be prepared...
The team works tremendously hard to make the car lightweight, and it's important for us not to turn up with any excess body weight...
So I go running in the countryside, and do extreme sports like downhill mountain biking…
Physical and mental fitness are important, and so are agility and coordination, but you have to know the circuits…
so I train on these simulators to learn the circuits and the visual landmarks.
We can simulate differences in roadholding between soft and hard tyres, and change a car's gear ratios
One day, I came in and a friend said: 'I'm going for a motorbike ride tomorrow. Come with me if you want…'
so we went off and did an ascent of Mont Ventoux.
We crossed the whole of Provence without doing more than 3 kilometres on the road, and it was magnificent.
When I saw all that, I thought: I want to live here.
I often think about what other careers I could pursue.
I'd like to restore old cars, run a driving or extreme sports centre, or even be a gardener. Why not? Maybe I'll like it even more as I get older.
Those are the three things I'd really like to do.
