Hello my name is Yvon. Many know me by my nickname Mikami.
I'm making this video, because, as you know Daniela, who is supporting me with a raffle.
Many are wondering if my situation is true or not or if it's false and I'm going to explain it a little bit.
I am 21 years old and last year, in August I was diagnosed with bone cancer, which is called osteosarcoma.
It is indeed a cancer that has no cure and is one of the most aggressive cancers known, it really is far more aggressive
than breast, blood, it's much more aggressive, it's faster.
I had cancer in the knee, I really had very little hope of survival, in few words, I was
not going to have my leg, and eventually I was not going to be able to live.
We did what we could, thank God we could get help to take my chemo, and thank God we were able to stop
it, and now we proceded to get me an internal prosthesis, we asked for support to many people,
managed to get the prosthesis, I that was it, that that was the last thing that I would
have to suffer. Unfortunately, it didn't work. The cancer
affected much of the muscle in my leg, and it was very difficult because I never gave
up and many, many members of my family also never gave up on keeping my leg. I mean really,
no one would like to lose some part of her, an arm, a leg or some other part. No one would
like it. I held onto the idea and wanted to fight and do everything I could to keep my
leg, it's hard sometimes to be told by a doctor, several doctors that they were afraid that
I was going to lose my leg, but did we did what could, uhm ...
The operations after implanting the prosthesis were because my leg started to bleed internally
because of a very aggressive hematoma. And I had two surgeries because of it, because
the internal bleeding of the muscle wouldn't stop and they were two surgeries where my
life was in danger, in the end I had to make the decision because if I took the decision
to save my leg again, I could end up losing my life as well, so I had to, um ...
I had to accept that my leg was killing me, so I agreed to have my leg completely amputated,
in few words, they extracted my entire leg bone, they dismembered it of the hip, I have
no leg anymore, but thanks to that, my health has been able to improve more quickly than
when I still had my leg and I'm fine, thank God I feel healthy, it's strange not to have
something of yours, no more, and not ever. But I'm working to move forward, now many
people are supporting me in raising money to pay debts that we owe to the doctors and
seek funds to buy my new prosthesis. Which will be difficult to find a prosthesis that
can support me. I'm really grateful for all those friends and strangers who have been
supporting me in this during all this time, throughout this period I have suffered, which
was nearly two months of suffering. I really appreciate it because I'm not the
only one going through this and there are many young people like me who can not live
or survive, and believe me I'm the only one who has survived or at least I'm one of the
few who has survived this cancer, which has been totally a miracle and I am truly grateful
and I thank you for support and I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope we
can get enough donations to buy my prosthesis and be able to return to my normal life.
Which it will be, and just because I don't have a leg anymore does not mean I will be
able to live like a normal person, I might walk kind of funny. But that doesn't matter.
And thank you very much to all of you who have been supporting me, thanks to my family
who has been supporting me and to Daniela more than anything, who is who started this
whole project, that she thinks is the least she could do, but for me she's doing a lot.
Well, I love you, thanks.
