We are demoing this product or this tool inside Windows 8.1
but he has been available sense Vista.
A lot of people know that you can take a full snapshots of your screen by
hitting the print screen button, and it loads it into the clipboard
but what if you want just a small section of your screen
as a graphic.
This is easily done with the snipping tool.
To launch this tool in Windows 8.1, we are going to click on our start menu to bring
back up the new user interface, and we are going to start typing in snippet.
This will then find this tool and go ahead and let us launch it.
If you're looking for this tool in Vista or in Windows 7 you would go to
Programs, Accessories, and Snipping Tool.
We are going to go ahead and launch this tool.
It will come up and let's say we want to take a screenshot of the corner of this
Internet Explorer window.
Bring up our Snipping tool
Click on "New"
We can then use these cross-hairs
to drag
and highlight the area in this box that we want to take as a clip.
Let go and it will automatically load it into the clipboard of the Snipping Tool.
The Snipping Tool does have a couple different neat tools.
One of them being which is the pen tool.
You can change different color inks
and you can actually draw or
wright on the clip.
You can also use the highlighter
and highlight an area on the clip.
An eraser
to go through and erase the things that you've done.
Now the neat part about this tool and what most people use it for is at any time you can
go up to file,
do a save as,
and you can save this graphic. We're going to go ahead and put it on to our desktop.
You can save it as a PNG,
GIF file or a JPG file which is what we're going to choose for today.
Click on "Save"
Close out.
And you'll notice that is taken that snapshot and made it into JPG file
for us.
This is easily used to grab just about anything on any windows desktop
version
for any program.
Hope you've enjoyed this tutorial.
See you next time!
