Back in the boat we come across a big fella cooling off.
They swim under water? You’re kidding me.
He’s going for an across-the-river swim.
Mate, I didn’t know they could swim that good.
Look at you, you big thing.
It’s pretty clear old buff doesn’t know what to make of us, and we’re not taking any chances.
Oh big boy.
Any escape plan when he puts a dint in the front of the boat?
Didn’t you watch Crocodile Dundee you just stare em down mate.
Yeah i watched that movie.
Like this. He’s getting grumpy. Yep I’ve nowhere to go, I'm coming in, that’s gold.
Jase is up the tree. I’m up the tree.
Here big boy.
You are a big scary boy aren’t you? Hey?
Well that’s a closest I’ve ever been to a wild buffalo. Pretty happy about being on
the bow of this boat too, how about you, Jase?
I’m up the tree, they reckon people have been killed by wild buffalo.
Extremely dangerous in the bush.
You can see why, aye.
Yeah they stand their ground. Very territorial and as you can see he spots me.
He’s coming back. Look at that sh**. That’s crazy.
See that? As soon as I hit the deck he wants a piece of me. He’ll stand his ground.
Look at those horns.
I definitely don’t want a piece of him. Buffalo have been here since the 1820s.
He puts on a show that’s for sure. He certainly does.
As soon as you put your foot down he wants a piece of action. There he goes.
He’s one scary bull.
So pretty much we’ve got crocodiles on this side and buffalo on this side. He can play
in that water and do all that all day long. He’ll swim across there and a croc, it would
have to be a serious crocodile to take out a buffalo. And the reason being is, they’ve
got a hide that’s an inch thick. The old croc would give him a nibble on the back and
the old buffalo would swing around and smash him a new one with his horns. Old croc is
after young buffalo that is what he chases.
Big boy. Where’s your escape?
This is my escape.
Just walk a bit closer mate.
Yeah but I don’t want to get caught in the mud that’s for sure.
It mustn’t be hard; he’s not bogging down.
He’ll pop me a new one. That’s their defence, they charge, threaten and intimidate you and
he’s doing a bloody good job of it.
Go a bit closer, you’ll be right.
Oh yeah, thanks Simon. Why don’t you get closer?
We’re brave huh?
He’s like stomping his foot.
It’s alright for him he’s got a big set of horns on his head but we ain’t got squat.
I’ve got a hat.
But we do find a way to move old buff on and he doesn’t like drones, go on. Get out of there.
