Let me show you what you might be missing
due to boot softening and accumulated road grime
it's common for washers to stick to the boot. Original washers may be just as
discolored and dirty as the boot
so they're easy to overlook and sometimes mistakenly return with the core to the store
This becomes a problem when the original hardware is reused for installation
with the washers missing, the bolts will make contact with the inside of the rack
resulting in housing fractures
that can lead to unit failure. Also, the friction between the bolts & casting
produce aluminum savings that get caught between the rack and seal
causing leaks. So, take a little extra time
keep track of those washers to ensure the rack doesn't fail prematurely
