Hello again. SM is spoiling us this week:
apart from DBSK, we've got also new Girls' Generation's video,
which we're gonna see in a moment and then decide what we liked.
At the beginning we both have to say, that girl's bands are not our favorite bands.
We appreciate them, but musically they don't get to us.
That's why we can be even more critical than usually.
We're sorry about that but...
...but sorry. But sorry.
We'll see what they have to show us.
I can't say what I expect, really. I've only seen teasers and photos.
For me GG's songs are all very similar.
Just like the girls. Just like the girls.
That's the next thing: I just can't memorize their names.
I recognize their faces, but I can't memorize names and I can't match faces with names.
So if there will be commentaries like "this one, this one!", then... then I'm sorry.
So...
Let's go. Let's go.
From the very beginning it looks like S&M ***.
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and experiments on people.
With pretty ladies.
But I like the colors here. Cold shades with pink. Pink is a must.
Oh, black and pink Rubik cube. How come I don't have one yet?
Why the candles weren't lightened?
Now they are.
Once they are, once they aren't. Oh-oh. Oh my.
They stood on fire because of the heat, you know. Ahh...
Why are they suddenly on a parking lot?! Why?!
I'm disappointed in the chorus.
The beginning was very... well, I thought "damn, they're gonna rock the chorus"- they didn't.
Flat.
Honestly speaking that's exactly what I expected from GG.
That's the style.
It should be appreciated that they stick to that
that they have their own style and when you see them, when you hear them
you know it's them.
Well yes... if someone likes it.
We're not fans, so...
But it is quite... catchy.
It lacks that "kick", but...
I love the verses.
They're ok. But the MV is just...
The MV is as incoherent as the song:
verse is ok, with all that hospital vibe
and then there's the chorus and suddenly some parking lot completely out of the blue. You're right.
Uuu, nice ring.
From what I know... And yet something more again?
Seriously?! No.
Couldn't you focus on one thing... No.
I just wanted to say that from what I see, the stylization was no harm to any of them.
No. They all look good.
They all look good, they're pretty here.
First of all they've started to look different from each other
because if you think about "Gee" when they all looked exactly the same...
I guess they were supposed to.
This is a very nice stylization overall.
Mr., mr., so... Ok, but...
Out of the blue, completely out of the blue.
One to another...
Because the core of the video is really ok... Great.
This. Super!
This separately too.
But together...? No.
A surgery. Heart made from sequins.
I enjoy that a lot: visually and as the concept.
and those transitions to B&W.
That's awesome. And the fact there's only pink and B&W...
Oh, that's nice, cause it looks like they're leaving the surgery.
That's also a reference.
Mhm... But that's too much...
Here... This is better.
They could limit it to this... the colors are matching.
The tiles like from the hospital. Yeah, yeah...
This, if it was only this...
But they have something different with every chorus. True.
And now, let's go to "Weekly Idol". Random dance! Dance!
Which chorus is that?
They also have nice clothes here, by the way.
And this is ok. Yes.
This is a very nice touch. Also with that matching ring.
The summary of Girls' Generation's MV "Mr., mr.":
We unanimously say, that the song is as incoherent as the video and it's a wasted potential.
It's the same with the lyrics. We thought that maybe we'd find something in the lyrics, some clue, but no, we did not.
I really enjoy the verses.
The chorus... chorus, after hearing the song for the second time, is quite pleasant, but it's a wasted potential.
It could have been a hit, that I'd listen to over and over again.
And it's exactly the same with the MV:
the "doctor" parts, blue and pink, they are great.
Later the references:
the parts where they're dressed differently, but the room still has a hospital vibe
or when it looks like they're leaving the surgery- everything is great.
But the garage scene...
The garage scene is the first one to go. It's the worst one.
Because later, in this chorus when they dance wearing men's clothes
this at least suits the title, "Mr., mr.",
and they also look very pretty there
Although it still doesn't add up. Unfortunately.
It also came out of the blue, maybe they could...
maybe there will be a second version of the video? I don't know.
Maybe there should be two versions.
This doesn't fit this version at all.
So generally speaking, I'd say we're pretty much... "so-so"...
with slightly "not so much".
That's a pity.
That's a pity. We feel disappointed.
But well... DBSK was a "plus" now we have a "minus".
Generally I think they could maybe try to do something together?
Mr., Mr., the suits, some performance with DBSK?
SM: Think about it.
Not only about that, we've got plenty other ideas.
We've got the whole list. Yeah.
But we'll talk about this... later. Yeah, some other time.
As for now... that was the second video this week, I hope there will be some other stuff to comment soon.
Looks like March and April will be both very plenteous, so...
See you!
