Hey guys, this is Heather from healthyeatingstartshere.com. Today I’m going to talk about some fun healthy
recipes. So, I don’t know about you but I really like to have fun in the kitchen.
Healthy eating for me is really just having a lot of fun.
This means more energy, more days without being sick or degenerating into disease and
having more years in the planet, and contributing more positive energy to other people. These
are my lofty and idealistic set of goals, but really, it’ all comes down to having
fun, and that’s what I want to do with my life and that’s how I enjoyed myself.
Healthy eating is a part of that, a big part of that. Fun healthy recipes would sound like
an oxymoron for some people, and yes there are lots of healthy recipes out there that
are boring, but I can also see just as many unhealthy recipes out there that are just
as boring.
It is so easy to have fun with healthy recipes – I don’t see a need to separate those
two words, fun and healthy.
So, how do we make fun healthy recipes in the kitchen? Phil’s favorite type of food
is pizza, that’s probably one of his favorites and we mount it with lost of fresh vegetables.
He also really like to have any type of vegetables that has been stuffed, like stuffed tomatoes,
stuffed peppers, stuffed mushrooms, stuffed squash, stuffed sweet potatoes, whatever it
is.
Hey, if it makes it fun, so that’s a good thing right? For me, I really enjoy tomato
sauce for some reason – it’s one of my favorite things, and I also really like it
as leftovers, I don’t know why but eating it out from the fridge, for some reasons,
I really love it.
My other thing to make that’s really fun is the fresh rolls with rice paper and salad
inside, and a really fun dipping sauce – love those things. Phil and I sometimes like to
make entire meals that we eat with our hands, just to make things a little but different.
Some things I’ve done are fries, not fried fries, but it has the shape of some French
fries with carrots, with zucchini, with sweet potato, and any other vegetables I can think
of, I make them into little sticks. I can always steam them, or bake them or eat them
raw, and make a bunch of some dipping sauce – there’s a really fun meal that you can
have with our hands with all kinds of different flavor combinations going on.
Phil is a big fun of cookies. I’ve got a whole bunch of healthy cookies that I can
make for him. Ginger bread is one of my favorite, and you can make those even more fun by decorating
them. I like it to decorate ginger breads with healthy things like raisins, peanuts,
almonds slices, and whatever.
So rather than sugar and some of those little balls or sweet colored balls, rather than
those things, I go with some dried fruits like nut, seeds, things like that. I posted
a list of some fun healthy recipes – my top 10 fun healthy recipes, most of which
are the ones I previously mentioned.
I want to know what you guys do to have fun in the kitchen, and if there are any fun recipes
that you like, let me know. Leave me a comment. Be sure to check out the list of recipes at
