KX Matrix +CTO 32-425-125-975 Carbon Block Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the KX Matrix 32-425-125-975. This is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 10 inches long by 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast selection of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular Pentek HD-950 that you see here. Now, the 32-425-125-975, also known as the +CTO is a 5 micron, acid washed carbon block. Now, that acid washing process simply removes some of the carbon dust and carbon fines from the filter, so you don’t deal with that mess yourself when you first install the cartridge. You may have experienced this with other cartridges when you install them, and then you put water through it and you get a little bit of black particle in the bottom of your drinking water; those are carbon fines. You’ll see a lot less of that with this cartridge. Now, this filter is NSF Standard 42 certified for the materials it’s manufactured from, and every KX Matrix cartridge is manufactured in the good old USA. This filter is a no frills chlorine reduction filter, obviously carbon removes a vast array of organic and inorganic contaminants as well, but its’ primary goal is the reduction of chlorine taste and odor.
