8 musicians, 4 dancing girls, 1 review artist,
all included in a paradise scenery,
this are the main elements
for this release show
on this friday night in Brussels.
Born in September 2011, The Left Arm of Buddha
is musical project which take the audience
to the discovery of Exotica.
"Exotica is a musical style from the fifties"
"hardly inspired by tropical rhythms"
"and everything from the hot spots of the world."
"Actually, it's the huge mix of rhythms"
"coming from everywhere in the world"
"always to try to create a kind of fantasy"
"namely a faux-paradise and here,"
"we'll do it for one night show..."
"with four dancing girls and one revue artist."
And the audience takes all in!
with this burlesque accents show
surfing occasionally on the kitsch wave.
Musicians are also taken from other musical bands as "Lady F.",
"La fanfare du Commando Fête",
or "The Moon Invaders".
Most of them are from the south.
"We've got Christophe Collignon on bass,
Nicolas Talbot on bariton sax and flute,
Who's missing?...
David Loos, from Paliseul, also playing on saxophone,
myself coming from Vresse.
...I hope I didn't forget anyone...
There's also a few persons born in the south but
they left to early to consider them as people from the Ardennes."
Between Rock, Pop, Jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms
Exotica is inspired by different musical styles.
After several months of work and a on-stage rehearsal
the show is completely ready to be distributed everywhere.
"It's the completion of one year of work."
"We'll start again by creating a DVD introducing the show"
"to be easier to understand"
"what's happening on stage"
"because it's a highly visual project"
"...and highly based on music of course..."
"but it's really easier to understand and to appreciate"
"when you can have a look to the result."
The first persons to be interviewed really appreciated this wacky show!
"Splendid! Splendid!"
"We mainly came to show our stepdaughter dancing"
"but the concert was splendid."
"With lots of atmosphere... It's was very groovy!"
"It was great! Top! There is nothing else to say...
"Very funny! Great!"
- Did you know Exotica music?
"Absolutely!"
"I came because I have a collegue who was playing tonight"
"so I was happy to see him."
"There was a kind of spirituality in this band which I've really appreciated"
"It's was 'dwelled'. And the Tiki totems"
"on the both sides of the screen... I adore!"
The Left Arm of Buddha is a rare offer on this scene
because they are quietly the only ones to do this revival in Europa.
For sure, this isn't the last time we'll hear about them!
