Good evening. We are broadcasting live from King Soopers, supermarket.
At King Soopers, you can a huge variety of delicious foods, so today I would like to share the experience with you.
First of all, American supermarkets are usually huge, so I would like to do a quick fly-by first.
Last stop. So long, right?
This place, rather this aisle, is where we buy meat products. This aisle is ONLY meet.
Here, we have some pork. There sure is a lot of pork stacked up here. And, it's thick isn't it? (compared to items sold in Japan)
Yet, even though it's thick, it's still pretty cheap, right? (? 250?)
At least I think so.
Look! So many all in one package! The fact that you get so much for only about 800 yen is pretty sick I think.
So, this is ribeye steak, just like the kind you get at Outback Steakhouse in Osaka and Tokyo.
This sucker is pretty expensive, at about 2300 yen, BUT you get four, so...
Here, there are a lot of sodas on sale--and many of which you can't get in Japan.
For example, this Mountain Dew. Yes, you can buy MD in Japan, but we have so many interesting
and strange flavors like this "Code Red". This bad boy has a ton of carbonation (meant to say caffeine)
This one, my girlfriend really hates...now where was it...oh here.
Japanese people don't seem to really like this rootbear, but man...we Americans dig it. Lots of sugar and stuff...it rocks!
That's enough. I still have more I wanna show you.
(The fruit and vegetable selections)
So, this is an apple pie. In America, these bad boys are thick--and cheap. These pies are only about 250 yen each.
Here, we have the cheese. I have always thought that cheese in Japan is expensive, but in the US it is pretty cheap. Recently, the price has gone up, but it's still cheaper than in Japan.
A little different than a normal grocery store, you can also buy cards (New Year's, B-day, etc) and pens, paper, and such.
So this is where we find sodas. Let's see...ones that you can't buy in Japan...oh, yeah...check it.
As far as Fanta goes, the most popular flavor is definitely "Melon Soda". Unfrotunately, we don't have Melon Soda in America.
Don't know if this will be interesting or not, but look at this protein powder! It's huge--look at it compared to my hand.
It weighs about 2 pounds! Isn't that heavy? If I were to buy this in Japan it would be very expensive. Here, it's 200 yen!
For the Japanese viewers watching, you may be surprised, but check this out: American Ice Cream. So many types, all for about 499 yen! Mega-cheap!
One more time with the ice cream thing. There are very few things Americans value more than ice cream!
Here we have instant pizzas. There are a ton of these along this aisle.
Isn't this crazy? Yet, it just keeps going.
Just like the ones sold in Japan, Pringles are famous in the US too. Actually, this one here--BBQ--is specifically sold in Japanese convenience stores.
There is English writing on this, so it is clear that this is a US good.
And here is the Pizza flavor.
And now, my little bro would like to say something in Japanese.
Go! (laughter) Times's a'wastin'! Hurry! "this is..." "Monster"
Yep this is Monster. It's an energy drink, kinda like a Red Bull in Japan, but a lot bigger. If you drink this, you could possibly die!
This is pretty cool--here you can check out even though there is no cashier, all automatically.
So, that's it for now. Next time, I will show you some of the healthy things we can get at that store. Bye bye!
