After the Syrian Revolution entered its third year, its demographic structure has changed
according to a statistical study done by the Syrian Network for Human Rights
The population growth rate has almost decreased to the third
SNHR revealed a decline in the country’s population growth
from 700 thousand births annually before the revolution to 350 thousands in 2012
SNHR also reported the decrease in the number of marriages
from 275 thousand annual marriage contracts before the revolution, to less than 90 thousand contracts in 2012
SNHR stated that
Idlib is the most affected province, followed by Daraa then Damascus Suburb
The network stated that the decrease in population growth is due to the daily killing
with a rate of 121 citizens, including 10 women
the number of injured people has increased as 740 thousand civilians have been injured, including 93 cases suffering from permanent disability or mild injury.
the unbelievable increase in the number of detainees, as they are estimated at 194 thousand
hundreds of detainees came out of prisons infected by diseases or bared psychological disorders
counting not less than 6 thousand cases of *** and *** assault
Internal displacement is estimated at 5 million displaced citizens
Residential buildings and neighborhoods were destroyed, nearly 2.9 million houses were either damaged or demolished
The population in Syria has almost reached 24 million inhabitants before the revolution
and the birth rate approached 700 thousand birth�
