Hello, I'm Sgt. Marc Black with the Maryland State Police
with important information about anyone who has a motor scooter
or moped. As of October 1st 2012
Maryland has a new law which requires anyone who rides a scooter or moped
to wear a helmet. The law also requires that you either have eye protection
or have a wind screen. Here are some other requirements you must keep in mind.
You must have your vehicle insured with at least a minimum vehicle
liability insurance and you must also carry proof of insurance
when you're riding at all times. You are also required to title your vehicle through
the Motor Vehicle Administration
when you apply for the title you will be issued of certificate title
and a decal. The decals must be displayed on the rear

in addition to existing laws including the one that requires of scooter and
moped
owners to possess a valid driver's license or moped operator's permit as a

police across Maryland will be enforcing these new laws so make sure you are in
compliance before heading out on your scooter or moped.
