Hi. I'm Sam with Grocery Coupon Network. And today I'm gonna talk to you about my shopping
trip to Mariano's, a store here in Chicago -- but you might know it also as Roundy's
-- and about the organic items I got there. And, really, you may not have that store as
a regional store, but I wanted to kind of show you how smaller stores that are not huge,
massive chains can also offer you some really great deals on organic and on produce and
different items that you might find there that are a really fantastic deal.
So first I want to start -- we always drink organic milk, and the going rate here in Chicago
is about $5.99. That's Trader Joe's standard price for their private-label milk, and that's
a pretty good deal. And you may be able to get it cheaper if you have a coupon for Organic
Valley and it's on sale, something like that. But, generally, $5.50, $5.99 is about the
lowest price.
So I was very pleasantly surprised when I went to Mariano's and the everyday price on
organic milk, this 1-gallon here, is $4.99. So I was super excited about that. And that
is just the standing no-sale, no-coupon price. So I will definitely be going there for my
milk from now on.
These are some produce items that I got at Mariano's, and they were also a really great
price, not even on sale, some of them. And they were cheaper than my regular old standbys
that I buy every week that are usually the best price I can find around here. But these
sliced mushrooms were $1.50. These organic tomatoes were $1.99. These were both everyday
prices, not sale prices. These organic bananas were $0.59 a pound, which is pretty good around
here, especially for organic.
So organic cucumbers were two for $1.00, and these organic apples were $0.98 a pound, which
is better than my usual -- I usually get two pounds of apples at Trader Joe's, organic,
for $2.49, so this beats that price. Now, this was a sale price. The apples were a sale
price, and I believe the cucumbers were also a sale price.
So I had a really good experience on my first shopping trip to Mariano's. And if you live
in the Chicago area, it's one of the only stores that accepts manufacturer's coupons
and will double them, up to five coupons -- on Wednesdays only -- with a $25.00 purchase.
So I'm definitely going to be shopping there more.
But I wanted to show you that by checking out other stores, new stores that you may
not already go to and know all the prices at, you can find some really great deals and
maybe get it in your rotation for groceries.
