Hi, on netbooknews.it today we’ll spend some words
to talk about this little fitness tracker, called Fitbit Ultra.
It’s a little gadget for the fitness, really on vogue in the USA
and for a short time available in the UK too, made to monitor our activity and create some
statistics that can be shown on the web as well as on smartphones.
It’s really easy to use, like shown here in the instruction book.
To start using it, you just need to connect the base to a computer,
create an account on the site Fitbit.com and from that moment on,
remember to keep it always with you. It can be clipped to a pocket, to a shirt,
to a jacket, with the extra clip too, or you can simply leave it in the bag.
It has an accelerometer and an altimeter, so during the daytime it monitors our steps,
the Kilometers we made and estimates the calories burned.
It can be useful during the night too to monitor the actual sleep hours.
The product itself is really nice, it weighs only 12 grams
and it’s available blue and pink-colored. The whole frame is made of this semi-soft
plastic, obviously not irritating for the skin, and
it’s interrupted on one side only by this little button that, if you push
it, shows in real time the steps and the Kilometers made, the estimate of the
calories burned and other details. The sale price is $ 99 in the USA, and about
£ 90 in England. It’s different from the other fitness tracker
not only because the battery life is seven days for real, but also because
it sends every data to a web service, that is the site Fitbit.com, where they are
saved and elaborated to create graphs really nice to look up.
For example, we have a weekly report with the kilometers
and the steps made, or the level of activity in a certain period.
You can create query, order the data for typology or date
and also decide to make public some of these info.
Actually there’s a part that is really social, with a community and badges,
medals given on the basis of goals achieved, with the connection
with social networks and other nice things. The web interface is really nice, well managed
and can be customized. Actually this is the key feature of this Fitbit
Ultra, that anyway is just a gadget to make you do some more activity, so the
question is: does it work? Well, obviously it’s a fillip to have a
chronological statistic of our activity, to see how many hours we spend sitting or
driving, and make challenges with friends or workmate
is a fillip too. Anyway the fact remains that it is just a
sophisticated pedometer, and $ 99 seems a good price here in Europe,
but actually in the USA it is considered a little expansive,
also because there are some smartphone’s apps that are cheaper
and have about the same functionalities. But it is a good idea to buy it as a gift
maybe to those persons who aren’t keen on technology,
because it’s a product really easy to use, nice and original.
After two months of use, I left my impressions and personal considerations
on the link you’re seeing on the screen over now.
I recommend you to read them if you’re looking for more info,
