ready or not it's back to school as we all know for millions of kids across the country right now all parents either shed a tear a duet happy dance already both our friend jake has a message for you mystery over the floor is yours banking ellen uh... new york times had a story out today about how well you try a new set of schools in new york and some other places around the country the schools are led by teachers in set of principles so were the effort by like that they're trying something new we've course brocco obama's race of the top which is a whole new way of trying to find the school's out work and promote those some liberals are guess it because they're worried about what it does the public schools some to serve as our guest that because as proposed by brocco bomb a uh... and here's my thought it looked yes people can blame the teacher they can blame the principles they can blame the teachers hearing is they can blame the government didn't blame a lot of data people but you know what we also partly to blame ourselves first was one of the abysmal numbers here says the rob additives for example in that new york times story they talked about to you at the charter school in the east new york brooklyn now that school has only twenty two percent of last year's eighth graders that passed the test anything which state-wide has an english and only thirteen percent passing that by those american character those numbers apart carol bismol uh... citywide it doesn't get much better in new york only thirty seven and a half percent past it anguish and forty six point three percent passed in math okay disaster on top of disaster those are totally unacceptable now when you go to mention what the numbers i'll get much better uh... the u_s_a_ spence the second-most amount of money among developed countries in the world so it's not that we're not spending enough money but all result is that we rent twenty start they in fifteen-year-old it she bring which again socks that there's a law long list of countries that are above us in education you know you can look at australia belgium high incomes went away and track republic analyst goes up on and on and on look what what can we do to fix this and how can we get uh... personal improvement here not just government wise but in our own lives well i'll tell you a story about my data myself and give you a sense of what you can do first of all as that somebody who's got kids in school you know what you should do you should demand that they get straight days but big enough or point though that's what my dad demanded of me and that's what he did and of themselves so what happened my dad started a little town in southeastern turkey here this year and warrington is he had absolutely nothing to his name and even that his family and what they relied on was hard work an education and from that little town you wind up getting a into a good school because a good grades it is stumble he took that turned into a good graduate program here in it stacy visits to the technology in america and wind up getting great jobs afterwards why because of education cuz he demanded something more himself and his family get and then you feel that it may not get a test score one ninety i any tell me what the other two points ko that some people might find that a president i didn't you know what he told me it told me that excellence was demanded of me and it worked i wanna getting into wharton business school columbia law school and now you know high whatever was a lot substitute on the bill already shown look at this exact yet if i want to say shouldn't tell your friends that that that it is resulted in uh... in the slotting with me jack but uh... it's a pleasure to see you know you have many other the gated communities that are being built in this country where it is against the rules to have children because they don't want to pay taxes for school that is one of the a bunch of are retired uh... fifty five-year-old living on there uh... wall street money not paying for anybody else's education or when you look at the overall cult of greed that has taken over the generation that is one above uh... our generation jiang uh... do we need a back seat blame our parents not for their failure to be good parents want for their over indulgence of incredible greed in their decision today that while they may have benefited from a good educational system in this country they'll be god damned if they're going to pay for anybody else to get a good education in this country but that's a a great point and when you look at governmental solutions for example i grew up in east brunswick new jersey we had a great public school and i was a recipient of that but will play out of their schools and vocal ensemble boston we travel the pros and white where they didn't have money to take their books home that and what meanwhile were building football stadiums with lights uh... is away in play out friday night who cares about friday night football we need to be a little bit better than that we need to make sure the kids of her family brooklyn or wherever else how bob so they can take home so lately they've got a fighting chance so it's definitely vote it's a it's how we you know organized are teaching system for public schools which was the reason we were we built this great country built this great middle class but also at home demanding more of our kids of ourselves when i write a brief you obviously would one other problem with the role with the football stadium in the friday night there is if you took the at and use it elsewhere like on teachers are books or anything crazy like that you take away the profit incentive for them you need bond deal with goldman sachs to build the f apostate but up i had no idea how i can imagine what it but i'm not even getting we've had ended more than opening for the second biggest spender in the world that education we're here we rank or a bleak why is that what is the spend all the money and physical structures in bond deals uh... and uh... and that's about it anyway gotta wrap it up and appreciate the registry deceived by the way
