Every man's goal............. is to be THE ALPHA MALE. The objective, which is hard wired
into the male brain - is out-and-out control and as an added bonus, to get the girl.
Some men are born with a genetic "advantage", allowing them to rule many castles, but
healthy doses of testosterone, ensure every man is at least king of his own castle.
But biology conspires against castle domination. It's called GETTING OLD. But, old age is not
the only threat to castle domination -- unfortunately, having a big belly, is a fast way to being
dethroned. Could your fat cells be turning you into half
a man ? Join us in this episode of Better Body Chemistry
TV as we explore how fat cells paint testosterone pink.
Better Body Chemistry TV is brought to you by Dr Sandy
A scientist turned gremlin buster, HELPING YOU, battle sugar gremlins, heffa-lumps & other
health horribles , through BETTER BODY CHEMISTRY. Remember small things can make a big difference
to your health. A big belly is more than an eye sore -- it
is a tumultuous mix of unhappy fat cells and macrophages.
Unhappy fat cells do not suffer in silence, they protest loudly, spitting out a slew of
chemicals. This chemical blend contributes to insulin
resistance and all the associated health troubles. The bigger the belly, the more fat cells are
active. Fat cells are not just storage cupboards,
they are continuously moving fat about. Both burning and storing -- in obedience to the
hormonal cues. Testosterone is one of the hormones they're
subject to. Testosterone strong arms them into processing
fat proficiently. It both inhibits the lipoprotein lipase enzyme,
responsible for bringing fat in, and stimulates fat burning, by up-regulating the catecholamine
signalling system. So testosterone turns you a lean mean fighting
machine. Busy fat cells sometimes need to take a break.
So built into the fat cell's milieu, is an enzyme or two, that "neutralizes" that testosterone
squeeze. The keto reductase 1c enzyme -- AKRIc for
short, trips up dihydrotestosterone, removing it from the picture. The whole thing is quite
innocent. But, a second enzyme, aromatase is far more
malicious. It doesn't just trip up testosterone, it feminizes him -- turning him into the girl
hormone, estrogen. So our hot blooded male ends up swimming with
girlie hormone. Now every man does have a little estrogen
circulating, because there are some jobs that only a girl can do. But, the operative word,
is A LITTLE. When fat cells begin banishing testosterone
from the castle, the estrogen levels rise. And the rise creates a great deal of confusion
in the brain, causing it to decrease testosterone production.
A very unfortunate situation develops.... Less testosterone is pumped into the system
-- effectively turning off the fat burning system.
But when the body is not actually burning fat, it needs more cupboards to store the
fat in. More fat cells are born, the process is known as adipogenesis.
More fat cells mean....... more aromatase, which means more estrogen, causing more confusion
in the brain. And........... less testosterone.
Eish ! In extreme cases -- man *** and infertility.
But for most regular Jo's, this testosterone deficiency is not so profound that it shows
on the outside, but it shows on the inside, it contributes to disease. Testosterone is
an atheroprotective chemical, this means it protects from heart disease, so when it goes
awol, the risk of a heart attack or stroke, increases.
