Sanitation Manager - Mikael

My name is Mikael, and I work as a sanitation manager. Job: Sanitation Manager [hired] I work as the sanitation manager of a municipality, we take care of domestic waste and make sure it is handled in the correct way. And it's always good if what you throw out as an individual ends up in a waste bag, it could be the waste that has been sorted too. Preferably no waste would arise at all. But the waste that arises you want to be taken care of in the best way possible. And I feel that's important. It's fun to work with issues that affect so many, and you feel that you are contributing to a better environment for yourself and the next generations. A regular work day can be very different. I might be sitting alone and working on sanitation issues in the office, answering questions that people might be calling about, they might wonder how to sort something. We have a recycling plant which it's good to check on once in a while. Then we discuss any problems that might have come up during the day or the week. - Take that list then. - Just what I needed, I have to account for all of that tomorrow. - Great, bye! - Bye! I got a technology education in high school. And when I was picking a subject for the third year I picked Chemistry, and it was a lot of fun because the lab was brand new. When I graduated I had ca 3.0, not in the top of my grade really. But it was just enough to continue studying for a Chemistry Engineer in Borås. While I was studying there they started a Masters course with a focus on environment. I've been interested in the environment all my life, but never thought of working with it before. But when they started the environmental education I thought it was perfect for me. I had thought I wanted to work within Chemistry, but it turned out to be Environment. - I got this material, thought we should put it up on the webpage. Some link maybe? I have worked here 4 months, so now I'm getting a hang of things. But I think a year is needed to be completely comfortable. In Gothenburg's municipality I had a temporary post, and felt that I liked it there, so I wanted something permanent and in the area. Then I saw the ad for this position and thought it was perfect for me. The best part of my job is that I'm within the environment area and that waste disposal is something that affects everyone living in Sweden. If you were looking for negatives here in Vårgårda municipality for example, sometimes I feel that there should be 2 or 3 people working with the same issues, so that there is someone to share ideas with. - Hi! I've been trying to call them now but haven't been able to reach them. - That's fine. A good salary is not really that important to me. But at the same time you need a salary to get choice possibilities in life. A cool person to look up to within sanitation is Tony Soprano from The Sopranos.
