Manny on the streetz: Laurie Ann Gibson, how are you? Manny on the streetz. Nice to see you.
Laurie Ann Gibson: How are you? I'm fabulous.
Manny: Laurie, you are looking great, girl.
Laurie Ann: Am I? Thanks.
Manny: You know, after Diddy now you're going to Seacrest, huh?
Laurie Ann: Absolutely!
Manny: That's what I heard girl, that's what we heard.
Laurie Ann: I love Ryan Seacrest, he's a genius!
Manny: Congratulations on that show.
Laurie Ann: I know, praise God, it's a blessing and his office called me and they're like 'I have Ryan for you'
and I was like, 'who is this? Get the f*** off my phone, somebody is playing with me!'
and then she's like, 'I have Ryan Seacrest for you' I was like 'who is this?' and then she wouldn't break character
and then Ryan says, 'Hi Laurie Ann, it's Ryan.' I was like, 'Ryan, don't do this to me!'
'What are you doing calling me?'
Manny: So, that's how it all started huh?
Laurie Ann: Yeah, that's how it started.
Manny: Can you give us a little bit of info on the show?
Laurie Ann: So, basically, I'm really grateful. He's very genius.
You know that I've choreographed everyone in this business, and done it a legitimate way.
and I think Ryan and his crew who came to a Lady Gaga rehearsal, they followed me, and they really said,
'you know what, the world needs to see who's behind this, who's passionate about it' and what my manifesto is
To reach kids, and motivate them on another level, not just the artist, but you know, there are many gifts
and many avenues, and many access, so this is another look at how you can make it against all odds.
Manny: And who are you excited to see here at the VMA's?
Laurie Ann: Well of course, I'm nominated so we want to win
Manny: Congratulations.
Laurie Ann: choreography, yay! And then of course my little muffin Lady Gaga, but I'm also choreographing Nikci Minaj
on the pre-show with Will. I. Am so very excited because I'm launching her brand tonight and it's phenomenal.
Manny: How's it like working with such talent, Lady Gaga, to Beyonce, to Diddy, to now Nicki Minaj?
Laurie Ann: You know what, I see them in their purest forms and so for me it's always about the last step
or the last rehearsal, and then I let the kids enjoy the product that we build.
But, I remain in the hustle, in the sweat, and in the love of it, so they're just like my little muffins to me.
Even, Puffy!
Manny: [Laughs] Even Puffy!
Laurie Ann: He's on the show by the way.
Manny: That's great. Now, what do you think about the whole Taylor Swift, Kayne West feud
and now they are having a little reunion hopefully tonight.
Laurie Ann: I was there last year because we had our break through performance with Gaga
and I was just like, 'where am I?' I mean, at the end of the day, you've got to work really hard to be number one
and it takes everything and to have that moment to break her spirit or for him to risk what he's built
I just didn't understand where it came from. But, I'm happy that they will regain their own confidence and
for me, Kanye is a genius and I love him and I'm glad that he can put that behind him and continue to make great music
and do amazing things.
Manny: And one more thing for seacrest.com right here, can you do your best Justin Bieber hair flip impersonation?
Laurie Ann: I'm not sure Ryan if I can do my best Justin Bieber, I think it would have a little too much choreography
but let me try. [Flips hair] Justin needs to come to me to figure out how to do a hair flip.
Manny: [Laughs] I love it, thank you so much, good to see you.
