What do you think of the elliptical machine weight loss results you were promised?
I haven't seen them yet.
If you are on the elliptical, you should burn as many calories as running if you keep up
the pace.
I was told the elliptical was better because it doesn't strain the knees.
Your feet aren't pounding the pavement, so the joints don't wear out as fast. In fact,
they recommend the elliptical to anyone who has had joint problems.
Getting moving again does wonders to help you lose weight you put on after an accident.
However, it may not do a good job if you've been overweight for a long time.
The elliptical is better than a treadmill for some people because you don't have to
keep up with the treadmill's speed. And it is easier to keep your balance on it compared
to a treadmill.
This is making me feel old. Or it makes me think that the elliptical is for older people.
Any workout plan helps you lose weight as long as you do it and keep it up. An elliptical
has the advantage of letting you use it no matter your state of health.
What about calorie burn?
If you get a good pace going, you'll burn as many calories as going for a jog.
I heard it compared to the burn rate of cross-country skiing.
Unless you live in Norway or Minnesota, I don't think you could honestly compare it
to cross-country skiing.
Do you think it is better than a stationary bike?
As a workout system, sure, since you use your arms, too.
What could I do with my stationary bike then? It is a de facto clothes hanger now.
Hook it up to a generator and charge batteries for use around the house. Or get one of those
pedal powered appliances and use it to wash your clothes and crack corn.
Why on Earth would I do that?
It helps the planet, it helps you lose weight and you're not using the bike for anything
else.
