Music Fast Ball! Not Talk Fast Ball.
Your team makes a frantic last-ditch effort to become famous.
Some people think that you appeared on the program 'Challenge' in order to raise your group's awareness.
So currently your team's priority is appearing on variety show rather than engaging in singing activities.
First of all we had no aim to become famous when we started out as a singer. We already knew that it's impossible to become famous.
Our album is going to fail anyway. We will never be able to become famous.
Like this, we never had any ambition to become famous at all.
Our priority was to sing our own style of music.
But if we were given the opportunity to become famous, then we would be thankful to accept it.
I think your talent for music is hidden behind the group's funny image shown on TV.
Your team members' appearances are quite mature but actually you've been a singer for only 2 years since 2011.
I heard that Jangmi Yeogwan was actually a group of 2 not 5 members.
That's right
Two of us used to listen to Folk music often. Our role models were UN, Yuri Sangja, One More Chance.
But when we sang our musics nobody would look at us. Everybody was fiddling with their phones.
Since we played the acoustic guitar, we could hear what the audiences are saying, such as 'Let's just listen to the music.' 'When are we going home?'
We felt so upset after hearing that. We considered what we could do about this then we started to recruit members. We changed our plan to become a band.
Then did people start to see your perfomance after you made your debut as band group.
Nope
They still didn't pay attention to our performance. We thought this was another failure.
When we got on stage, people start to whisper 'Who are they?'
Then we came up with another idea to create a dress code. We decided to dress up in suits.
Since our group name is Rose Motel(Jangmi Yeogwan), we decorated out suit with big corsage on the suit. So we bought red corsage to pin on our white suit.
After that people started to pay attention to us. Their eyes have changed.
What's that?
This is it! Since then we started wearing white suit and people started to pay attention to us.
There is a photo of us wearing our first suit. The photo is behind you.
We wore a shirt inside our suit. This was a U.K style.
Yes..I can see it.
Before we wore suit, we dressed up like that on the right side of the photo. Those clothes are the styles which we each dressed up as best as one could.
Actually we got the motive for the white suit from .... 5 members of TVXQ..
They once wore white suit..
I was surfing on the internet and there I saw a photo of TVXQ members going to the award ceremony dressed up in white suit
They looked so stylish. This is our style! Let's go to the boutique shop right now.
Wow..This just popped up into my mind. I wanted to follow the style of TVXQ.
After going through hard times, you guys finally started to gain awareness. I think the first momentum was through the program TOP Band 2.
At that time actually Daybreak was taking an upward trend. Many people thought that Daybreak would win the battle.
Excuse me but who is Daybreak?
They are rock band. I will call them to see this episode.
But you guys beat out Daybreak and took the first place.
How did you feel that time?
We had many thoughts about, 'What's going on?' 'Isn't this too much?' or 'Are they filming with a hidden camera or did they plan this out?' 'Is this a plan to make us famous?'
However you anyway took the first place and many people around you congratulated your winning the battle. I think the way people around you behave to you might have changed. It might have felt burdensome in some way.
There were other teams who had band experience of over 10 to 20 years. They were so used to working together which let them easily achieve harmony. But to us that was difficult.
We were baby compared to them since we've been team for 2 months. We started to gather in the morning and practice, eat lunch, take one hour rest and practice, eat dinner and practice
We practiced all day. Each of us were used to playing music in different circumstances thus it was difficult for us to make harmony in such short time. We always had a clash of opinions.
This is like a boy who crammed on the test beating up another boy who have been studying for 10 years.
Cramming?! No let's just say we had talent for music
Each of us had the basic skills for music. Please say sophisticatedly that we were receiving individual lessons.
Are you going to wrap up our talk in this way?
At this point I will strike second music fast ball.
Jangmi Yeogwan's identity is uncertain.
We thought about that. 'Why do we sing this kind of music on TV when we make our albums in this way?' What's our real concept?
Why are we keep changing? But when we first formed our group, we didn't define our genre or what kind of music we would sing.
We didn't form our group by defining that we are going to sing funky music. We just formed a group under the concept of 'Engaging in music together'.
Just enjoy the music. So our motto was based on the lyrics of our song. Through the lyrics we wished people could sympathize with us. Delivering the message is the most important.
So when we compose our music, if the lyrics of the music fits in this genre then we sing in that genre and if it fits in other genre then we compose our music in that genre.
That's our team's main concept.
I am not sure if it's because we got older but we wanted to deliver what we want to say or what we want to advise to the listeners through the music.
Ah.. so the message of the music rather than the genre of our band.
I like this second question.
We really wanted this kind of talk.
We were able to let the viewers know the exact concept our team.
