Richard Powell playing bluegrass guitar... Thank you for joining us today. Welcome to "Plant Your Roots at the Library" Brevard County's site & project for supporting local library content. I'm your host, Nate Hosburgh and today we are here with Richard Powell a Brevard County musician who has been invited many times to play in the Brevard County Library System. So, Richard: How did you get your start playing in the public libraries? Well, like all stories, it's a bit of a long one. But, essentially a good friend of mine, Ray Dickinson who runs the Cocoa Beach Public Library and I believe he oversees some of the other libraries... he had seen my band, "The Indian River Bluegrass Boys" play on a number of occasions and at various other places and he simply approached us one time and asked us if we'd love to. Of course, where there's an audience, we'll go play So, we went there and found it to be one of the best if not THE best venue we ever played at.
