Atten-tion! Right Face! Sgt. Snake here, telling you to put on your
domes and buckle your chinstraps, cuz Gunny Highway says so.
In this installment of Marine Corps Movies, we are going to be discussing on of my personal
favorites, Heartbreak Ridge. Heartbreak Ridge is the story of a lonely
warrior whose time is nearly up and winds up spending his final tour whipping some punks
into Recon Marines. For those of you who are unfamiliar, Recon
Marines are the tip of the tactical spear for a Marine Expeditionary Unit, or MEU.
Back to the movie: Overall, I LOVE This Movie!! First of all, Gunny reminds me of a platoon
sergeant I had...keeping us up for 36 hours of cleaning just cuz he felt like it.
Secondly, this is easily the most quotable Clint Eastwood movie of all time.
Third, this gives an accurate portrayal of certain realities in a peacetime military:
A commanding officer more concerned with request forms at odds with a fighting man's Marine,
and a platoon full of bums with attitudes.
My favorite quote, "I eat concertina wire and *** ***." A Bad Dude Indeed.
Ultimately, the movie leads our misfit Recon Devil Dogs in Grenada. In real life, Operation
Urgent Fury took place in 1983, when the island of Grenada fell to a coup which placed American
students lives in danger. Marines, Rangers, the 82nd Airborne, Delta Force, and Navy Seals
were all sent in in order to seize control back until elections could be held.
I strongly recommend thissss movie. Before we part company, let me tell you about
K-Pot Coffee. Named for the Kevlar helmet worn by our troops, K-Pot coffee raises money
for veteran charities. Go to the description box beneath this video and click on the first

look for the next video. Until then...Dis-Missed!
