Today we're going to change out the lift cylinder in a Forest 3900 chair.
We've already removed the safety plate cover,
just a single screw with a common screwdriver to drop it all the way.
That exposes everything on the underside here.
I've also installed my support baton
right here. Simply had the chair raised up and lowered it on it
be very sure that this is secure and that is vertical and it's not gonna
slid or slip or
in any way move. You don't want this lift arm, this chair to come down on your hands
why your
in this process. So the first thing I'm going to do
would be to remove my out vent line off the top of the cylinder.
Then I have a hydraulic hose down here on the side that I could
I can disconnect and that's probably more easily done from the front.
The motor pump cover has been removed so I have access to it.
Then I need to take out the two
clips: One here at the base pull it out, and then there's one up here at the top
that I also need to remove. Next thing I need to do is,
and I prefer using something like this long like this,
a punch,
to go in and drive
my clevis pen out,
out the other side
of the cylinder. Once that's all the way out, I've already disconnected my lines,
everything's disconnected, I should be able to drop it down
and out of the chair installing the replacement
cylinder is just the reverse process.
Note that
we've got a couple bushings located in here. There should be a couple of
washers also
are located on the clevis pen
that we would want to reinstall if they're there and that would
that would be removing and replacing a lift cylinder.
Again, be very careful about it make sure that you got this baton in here securely
supporting the whole weight of the chair.
