WE WANT TO GIVE YOU A BETTER
LOOK AT THE TWO PROBLEMS HERE..
ALL CAUSED BY TOO MUCH WATER IN
THE LAKE.
FIRST.. THE HUGE HOLE IN THE
SPILLWAY... JUST LEFT OF THE
DAM. RELEASING WATER INTO THE
SPILLWAY... MADE THAT HOLE
BIGGER. CLOSING THE SPILLWAY TO
INSPECT
THE DAMAGE.. MADE THE LAKE LEVEL
RISE...
EVENTUALLY THAT SENT ALL THAT
WATER OVER THE EMERGENCY
SPILLWAY.. OVER HERE... CAUSING
MORE EROSION.. AND THE
EVACUATIONS...
WHEN THE FORCE OF ALL THAT WATER
THEY'RE UP AGAINST... FOR EVERY
750- THOUSAND GALLONS OF WATER
BEING LET OUT OF THE LAKE...
300-THOUSAND GALLONS IS STILL
COMING IN..
AND MORE RAIN'S ON THE WAY LATER
IN THE WEEK.
HOWEVER... THIS BREAK IN STORMS,
EVEN WITH THE DAMAGED SPILLWAY,
IS LETTING THEM LOWER THE LAKE
LEVEL AS MUCH AS 30 FEET BY
WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
THEY HOPE THAT'LL BE ENOUGH..
BECAUSE LAST WEEK'S STORMS
BROUGHT THE LAKE UP.. 50-FEET.
