Um this is a drawing
I drew a while ago
As you guys can see
I did a very simple thing
I took something
From our heritage
"Om Kalthoum"
To use it
To talk about
A modern cause
And I think that this
Technique, many people
From our generation
Use it
When my dad sees this
Son, what have you done?
"Om Kalthoum'
No she stays as she is
Don’t do this to her
So, I think
This made me realize
That our generation
Is not bad.
Our generation is capable
To take from our heritage
To create something new.
But the old generation
Obviously,
Doesn’t want anything from
The new generation.
Say, son, get rid of
These cockroaches
Every once in a while
Your head has roaches in it
So, um, so so
I realized honestly
That my head really does
Have roaches in it
One of the reasons
that these roaches exist
in my head, is that
I am a little lost
can't focus on what I want
I would do graphic design
I would do Product design
or design tables,furnture whatever
I would do comic books
I would shoot short movies or so
I would do graffiti
and run from the police
I would do fine arts
So this made me
want to understand
why am I lost?
So, I started to ask myself
some primary questions
to understand
What is my purpose in life?
So, after some deep meditation
I got it!
(Audience laughing and clapping)
I really got it!
I said, it’s clear
I am a man of ideas
What made me so sure
that I am a man of ideas
is that often come up
with ideas that have no existance
as a product or as a job
ideas that have no purpose
for example,
I was walking down the street
and I saw, Menatel
So What,Menatel is everywhere?!
I realized that Mental
has been out of service
for about 5 years
But its there, unchanging
Nobody decided to remove it
So, I started to ask around
I found that Menatel
went bankrupt, due to
the spread of cell phones
and a the cost of a minute is nothing
even if you don't have a phone
there's that guy one sidewalk
with the sign that says
a minute is 75 piaster
So, there is no use for Menatel
the company went bankrupt
and can't remove these things
because its bankrupt
and the Government
won’t spend money to remove it
when it needs to be building other things
Then I started thinking
What can we do with it?
We can't leave here for
the next 50-100 years from now
So I was inspired
by "Mama Susan"
she always led a campaign
"Reading is for everyone"
I see Posters and Banners
in the street about it
and 20 years of englinment
reading for kids, adults,everyone
But I didn't see any gestures from her
that motivate anyone to read
I didn't see any
public libraries spreading
I didn't see supported books
I didn't see book shacks
in the Metro for reading
I didn't see any actual gestures
that motivate people to read
So, I said why don’t we
transform this Menatel
into a reading device
of course, this a useless idea
and someone's going to tell me
people are going to rip the books apart
yes, that’s true
But if you place the book
in unbreakable glass
With two holes
someone waiting at the bus stop
could pick up a book
and decide that is interesting
I might buy it
It’ll be publicity for the authors
and the people waiting
could start reading
and if someone tears up the book
it doesn’t mean that
nobody will benefit even if a little
and so what if we put
"Reading is for Everyone"
This is a useless idea
why did I think of it?
I won't do it obviously.
I've had worse ideas
an idea about the "Nile River'
At school I've always heard of
or read that
Egypt is a gift from the Nile
that the Nile is very important to us
and we can't live without it
to the point that the
Pharos made the shape of
shape of the "Key of life'
in the shape of the "Nile River"
my problem is that
I've always lived in "Maser Al-Gdida"
and my school was located there
and I didn't see a Nile
my entire life
as I grew up
not even when I graduated from school
So, When I was reading about it
at school, that it is very important
and not see a Nile
how could I be an Egyptian?
and live in Egypt
and I grew up in Egypt
and not see the Nile?!
It’s probably even worse now
for all the new towns
like the "Tagmo'a Al-Khams'
and "Al-Rehab" and those places
you'll find the kid from
the home to the school
which is probably on the
desert highway
and to the club
He doesn't get to see
the "Nile”, unless, on a trip
How could you not see the
"Nile”, unless on a trip?!
So this made me think
There’s an imbalance
like now, if we look at Cairo
We’ll find that the city started here
So, if I decided to enlarge the city
to here, why wouldn't I
dig little canals from the Nile?!
as I enlarge the city
One, for the spiritual essence
of the Nile
Two, another method of transportation
other than the cars and smoke
So I am lessening the crowds and smoke
and river buses and all
Three, moistening the air
in the far desert areas
Everything’s cool
When I started to research
I found this isn't new or weird
I was looking at Amsterdam’s map
I saw that it did this idea
even though they didn't have pharos
Who said the Nile people!
But they still carried out this idea
and if we look at reality
We’ll find that its great
its great to be surrounded by
Water canals
and at night!
and river buses
a float, he’s enjoying his time!
It’d be a great way to live!
A worse idea that came to me
has to do with the police
According to the police
We have a patrol car "Attari"
It goes around to
check on the safety of the citizens
Every car goes around
in its own district
To a degree its small
these cars cause more
crowdedness and pollution
So, I thought why not
the police patrol on bikes
One, the patrol areas will be smaller
saving more gas and car costs
if there is a criminal they
will catch sooner in crowded areas
Two, this will provoke the government
to make sidewalks for the bikes
because they will have a huge
amount of police individuals on bikes
If we make a sidewalk for bikes
there will be regular citizens
who have always wanted to ride bikes
But are afraid to die by the microbuses
will start to ride bikes too
Then lessening the
crowdedness and pollution
All of this with a single step
Putting the police patrol on bikes
In addition
The accustomed look
for the police individual
will change considerably
I am a person who
who isn't specialized in any of this
But, I think that if
everyone is specialized in one thing
and didn't make excuses
and got creative to the max
and let all the roaches in their head live
Egypt will be a great place to live in then
Thats all, thank you
