In the beginning, when God created heaven and earth, the earth was a formless wasteland
and was covered in darkness, while mighty winds blew across the waters.God said "let
there be light" and there was light. God saw that the light was good. God then created
light and darkness and called the light "day" and the darkness "night". Evening came and
morning followed, the second day. God then said "let there be a dome in between the water
in order to divide the waters above from the waters below". God created the dome and it
divided the waters above from the waters below. God called the dome "sky". Evening came and
morning followed, the second day. God said, "let the waters below the dome collect in
a basin so that dry land may appear, and it was so. God called the dry land "earth" and
