06 Sonya - Teaching opportunities for phd students

Sonya (PhD student at the University of Manchester) on the variety of teaching opportunities available to students.

In the School I've done a lot of teaching within the School and also within the School of Life Sciences, there's a lot of opportunity for you to be a demonstrator. In my experience, I've done a lot of lab demonstrating with the, mainly, first and second year undergraduates. That's been really fun, they get to do some really interesting practicals and I really enjoyed the teaching – seeing them being inspired and learning about things. Also, in my particular area, I've had chance to get involved in the Pharmacokinetics workshops, these are for third and fourth years. It's quite nice to also get involved in teaching that's more specific to my area, which I understand a bit more and also seeing one or two students be a bit more enthused about as area which I really love.
