And it still gets you in the gut, yeah, it still gets me in the gut, I smile; It's fun to ride.
Unlike any Royal Enfield built in India ever before.
It means a lot to me because it is the bike
that I wanted to have when i was sixteen, I couldn't afford but if you're serious about
motorcycling, Continental GT was the bike that all the young riders wanted. You didn't necessarily have it,
I had the James Sports Captain but this is what i wanted and i can have one now.
This now takes up to a totally different genre, which is, Classic Sport, Cafe Racer motorcycles.
It'll create that spirit of cafe racing in India,
It'll create a new spirit of motorcycling fun.
The Continental GT is a starting point of a new international Royal Enfield.
So It's been 2 days of riding this motorcycle in Goa, till now we've ridden about 500 Kms each
and so far it's been a fun experience. I know this going to be a short first impression of the bike,
we'll definitely try to do a longer review once we get this bike back in Pune and
Once Sgt. is back in Pune. Goa has always been a getaway sort of a destination for me, but then,
though my primary role here was that of a DOP,
I just couldn't resist the temptation of riding the GT. I've been so Awe struck by this bike, the ability
to push this bike through corners, the ease with which it handles, the brakes too give you
a lot more room for committing an error and correcting it too .That's something wonderful
for me coming from a Thunderbird 350, so, it's been sort of an eye opener for me.
So what Royal Enfield has managed to put in this package is something very brilliant;
they've managed to take the 500cc engine, re-bore it probably with a 535cc specifications as in the lightening;
but everything apart from that is completely new. When was the
last time that you saw Pirelli Sports Demon on a Royal Enfield. When was the last time
that you saw Paoli Shocks or Brembo Brakes upfront on any Indian Bike and this bike has a custom
tube chassis made by Harris Performance, styled immaculately by Xenophya Design. The level
of detailing that goes in, be it the instrument cluster, be it the foot-peg with the feeler
bolts, the mirrors, the RVM's, they look fantastic and they are pretty functional too, Small
elements like the fuel lid cap, is such a brilliantly designed and well engineered package
that the bike looks fantastic. While the bike looks aggressive, it still
is a very clever design since the handle bars are raised a little higher which makes for
comfortable ergonomics, to be true the vibrations are far less as compared to any flagship model by RE
and the engine seems to have been tweaked a bit, there are a few minor shifts in the RPM,
the Throttle response is much better. Probably the only bike that, only
Royal Enfield that lets you be a little Juvenile. Yeah, the bike really allows you to make mistake
and correct that; that has been one killer thing for me on this bike. Now, they call
me a Tourer but I'm used to the bikes which are lighter,
which are faster than this and I subscribe to that genre of motorcycling where I want to ride faster. This bike may
not be able to do that, but you know what, this bike has that one special thing, it'll
make you fall in love with this and the way it handles, easily the best Royal Enfield
ever made so far.
