\f0\b\fs24 \cf0 Parents as CTE stakeholders \
\ Kim Green:
\b0 of this economy that parents need is critical. The Secretary of Education was just a luster
among the great lead states is back to school. And, one of the things that we heard from
him, this is the Secretary, was that parents, are still a bit deterrent to seeing increased
expansion of Career Technical Education opportunities. There was a new story of a parent from Kenton
career center in Ohio, and the parent was interviewed and said, \'93 My child actually
had to convince me and work hard to convince me that I should let them enroll in a Career
Technical Education program." Because they thought that it was going to limit opportunities,
and that their child just wanted to take the easy way out, as opposed to actually having
a thoughtful plan that would help them be able to be more successful on their future.
So the focus on career counseling that engages parents on this process is one of the recommendations
in this report. I will give kudos to your State, because your State is actually listed
as one of best practices in this report around the youth apprenticeship programs.\
