Hi. I’m Philipp Schwizer and I’m going to present the new features of the
entirely reworked XL2 Projector software 2.0.
The XL2 Projector
brings your instrument screen to the PC, simplifying remote control
and it is perfect for presentation and educational purposes.
When we connect the USB connector to the XL2 instrument
a popup message appears.
We choose 'COM port' mode.
As soon as we now start the XL2 Projector, it scans all active COM interfaces
and finds your XL2 instrument.
An established communication is marked with a green indicator.
What we now see is the real-time XL2 screen reproduced on your PC.
The update rate is 10 screens per second.
If you have level limits defined in your XL2 analyzer, then the
background color changes between green, orange and red
depending on your actual level limit setting.
In the top line we see an arrangement of all instruments buttons. They can be
clicked with the computer mouse, allowing full remote control of the instrument.
In addition
we can use the scroll wheel of the mouse for moving the instrument cursor
and the left mouse click to select the function.
This enables intuitive remote control of the XL2.
As a third possibility you may also use the keyboard for all these controls.
For the full list of options available for controlling the XL2 Projector
please also view the help functionality, pressing F1.
A full list of all commands and features is then presented to you.
The XL2 can either be a COM device or a USB mass storage device at any given time.
The XL2 Projector software
that normally runs in COM mode provides the ability to switch to mass storage mode
by pressing the folder icon on the control bar.
The Projector screen then turns grey and control is handed over to the PC
enabling access to your stored files on the XL2.
Windows Explorer pops up, indicating that the unit is now in the mass storage device mode.
Now we can easily transfer
all previously stored data from the XL2 to the connected PC
without physically touching the instrument.
To hand control back to the XL2 Projector, simply confirm the 'Close' button
and the XL2 Projector resumes its normal operation.
As you can see this is a very simple method for transferring the previously
stored measurement results to a centralized place.
The demonstration so far had one instrument connected to the PC only.
But what if you have several remote instruments, and we want to access all of them?
Each of them are then allocated to another USB port
and communicates with another XL2 analyzer.
The XL2 Projector is a complimentary software tool than can be
downloaded by any registered user from the NTi Audio web site.
We go to the main web page www.nti-audio.com,
select the handheld range and then XL2,
click on 'Downloads' and then on 'XL2 Projector'.
Now login to 'My NTi Audio'
if you have already registered your instrument, or create an account
if you haven’t already done this. By the way, this protected area allows you to
maintain all your instruments for upgrade, service and calibration.
Go then to the support site of your registered XL2,
select the PC Projector software 2.0
and download and install it.
This ends the short introduction of the XL2 Projector.
Thank you for your attention.
